J-Zone
Jay Mumford (born February 26, 1977), better known by his stage name J-Zone, is an American record producer, drummer, multi-instrumentalist, rapper, and writer from New York City. Career Known for his quirky lyrics and trash talk style of rapping, J-Zone released a string of idiosyncratic and critically acclaimed albums in the late 1990s and early 2000s that acquired a cult following. Of these, the 2001 release ''Pimps Don't Pay Taxes'', was particularly noted; it featured rappers Huggy Bear and Al-Shid, for whom he would subsequently produce a number of 12" releases. In 2003, ''The New York Times'' cited his J-Zone, S.A. Smash concert in Brooklyn, New York as a noteworthy pop and jazz concert in the New York metropolitan region. ''Peter Pan Syndrome'' is a studio album by American hip hop artist J-Zone. It was released on Old Maid Entertainment on September 3, 2013. Critical reception Nate Patrin of ''Pitchfork'' gave the album a 7.5 out of 10, saying, "J-Zone's aggravated flow and stand-up-ready delivery lends itself to some sharp observations on class struggle, gentrification, and the travails of thwarted upward mobility." ''Princess Superstar Is'' is the fourth studio album by American rapper and producer Princess Superstar. It was released in 2001 in the United States via Rapster Records. Audio production was handled by Concetta Kirschner, The Herbaliser, DJ Mighty Mi of The High & Mighty, Chops, Curtis Curtis, Dart LA, Big Jim Slade, Lenny Lacem, and Mista Sinista. ''Ghetto Pop Life'' is a collaborative studio album by Danger Mouse & Jemini. It was released on Lex Records in 2003. It features guest appearances from Tha Liks, J-Zone, Prince Po, and The Pharcyde. In 2004, a reprint of the album with three additional tracks was released in the United States. Lex Records also released three EPs with tracks (and remixes of tracks) from the album: ''Take Care of Business'', ''Conceited Bastard'', and ''26 Inch EP''. Moreover, there was a special promotional CD, titled ''Ghetto Pop Mix'', a mixtape with short remixes of the tracks from the album fading into each other, along with a couple of new exclusive tracks. Victor Mercer (born November 16, 1980), better known by his stage name Celph Titled, is an American rapper and record producer who is a member of the hip hop supergroup Army of the Pharaohs, as well as the Demigodz along with Connecticut rapper Apathy, Ryu from Get Busy Committee, and rapper Blacastan and Esoteric. Mercer moved to New York City and began working as an in-house producer and A&R. Thomas Smith, better known by his stage name Jemini the Gifted One, is a rapper from Brooklyn, New York. He has most notably worked with Danger Mouse on the 2003 album ''Ghetto Pop Life'', which features rappers such as The Pharcyde, Tha Alkaholiks, J-Zone, and Prince Po from Organized Konfusion. ''The Return of the Drifter'' is the debut studio album by English rapper Jehst, originally released in 2002 via Low Life Records. The album was produced almost entirely by Jehst, with the exception of the tracks "Alcoholic Author" and "Staircase to Stage" which were produced by Harry Love. Biography Born in Kent in 1979, Jehst spent his early childhood in Crowborough in Sussex before moving to Huddersfield where he went to Honley High School. She has had two chart hits in the UK, "Bad Babysitter", which reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart in 2002, and "Perfect (Exceeder)", which reached number three in 2007.
