Iwo Byczewski (born 29 February 1948, in Poznań) is a Polish diplomat. He served as Deputy Foreign Minister (1991–1995), Ambassador to Belgium and Permanent Representative to the European Union. Fritz "Iwo" Dölling (12 January 1923 – 22 April 2019) was a Swedish diplomat. Early life Dölling was born on 12 January 1923 in Vaxholm, Sweden, the son of major Fritz Dölling and Margit (née Zander). He passed his reserve officers exam in 1944 and Candidate of Law in Stockholm in 1949 before he became attaché at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in the same year. Career Dölling was attaché and secretary of the Swedish OEEC delegation in Paris from 1950 to 1955, secretary at the embassy in Bonn from 1955 to 1957 and secretary at the legation in Pretoria from 1957 to 1960. Iwo Gall (born 1 April 1890 in Krakow; died 12 February 1959) was a Polish theater director, stage designer and pedagogue. Biography He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, then studied in Berlin and Vienna, where during World War I he worked with the Polish theater. After the war he worked at the Teatrze im. Juliusza Słowackiego w Krakowie, and then collaborated with Juliusz Osterwa's "''Reduta'' " (mainly as a stage designer). Iwo Robert Waclaw Lominski FRSE (1905-1968) was a Polish-born microbiologist working in Britain in the 20th century. In articles he is referred to as I. R. W. Lominski. Life He was born in Krakow in south-west Poland in 1905. He studied medicine at the University of Krakow and gained his doctorate (MD) in 1931. Iwo Odrowąż (died 21 August 1229) was a medieval Polish humanist, statesman, and bishop. Life Iwo was very probably born in Końskie, son of Szaweł Odrowąż and a member of the noble family of Odrowąż. He studied in Bologna and Paris, maintained contacts with a number of Western European intellectuals, and developed for himself a reputation as a "splendid representative of medieval Latin culture", though no writings of his survive. He later served as chancellor to Leszek I the White from 1206 to 1218, and as Bishop of Kraków from 1218 to 1229. Although designated by Pope Honorius III in 1219 as archbishop of Gniezno, he refused to accept the appointment. While chancellor he encouraged the reforms of Pope Innocent III. Iwo Cyprian Pogonowski
Iwo Cyprian Pogonowski (3 September 1921 – 21 July 2016) was a Polish-born polymath and inventor with 50 patents to his credit. He was a civil and industrial engineer by profession, educated in Poland, Belgium, and the United States. He was also a writer on Polish and European history, author of historical atlases, and a lexicographer. Life Pogonowski was born in Lwów, Poland. After the invasion of Poland in World War II, in December 1939 Pogonowski, aged 18, left Warsaw with the intent of joining the Polish Armed Forces in the West. He was arrested in Dukla by the German authorities on suspicion of aiming to join the resistance. He was moved between prisons and camps for five years thereafter. Interned at the Krosno, Jasło, and Tarnów prisons among others, he was sent with 500 prisoners to Auschwitz, and from there, several months later, to Oranienburg-Sachsenhausen. Iwo Zaniewski (born 22 May 1956 in Warsaw, Poland) is a Polish painter, photographer, director and artistic director of Przybora Zaniewski Ltd (PZL), an advertising agency. Iwo Jima (, also ), known in Japan as , is one of the Japanese Volcano Islands and lies south of the Bonin Islands. Together with other islands, they form the Ogasawara Archipelago. The highest point of Iwo Jima is Mount Suribachi at high. Iwo is a City in Osun State, Nigeria.
