Ivar Grydeland
Ivar Grydeland (born 1 October 1976) is a Norwegian jazz musician (guitar) and composer raised in Kongsberg. Career Grydeland was born in Trondheim, Norway, and studied jazz guitar at the Norwegian Academy of Music (1996–2000, and 2001–2003). He started his jazz career in the Big Band 'Ung Musikk' in 1995. He collaborates within the band Huntsville (six albums) together with Tonny Kluften and Ingar Zach, within 'Dans les arbres' (two albums) together with Christian Wallumrød, Xavier Charles and Ingar Zach, and plays with Hanne Hukkelberg. Grydeland plays acoustic guitar, electric guitar and banjo with a mixture of finger picking technique, various types of bows, metal, propellers and electronic devices, he teaches at Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, and runs the record label Sofa. Philipp John Paul Wachsmann (born 5 August 1944) is an African avant-garde jazz/jazz fusion violinist born in Kampala, Uganda, probably better known for having founded his own group Chamberpot. He has worked with many musicians in the free jazz idiom, including Tony Oxley, Fred van Hove, Barry Guy, Derek Bailey and Paul Rutherford, among many others. Wachsmann is especially known for playing within the electronica idiom. Pål Hausken
Pål Hausken (born 25 August 1980 in Rennesøy, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (drums and percussion), most known from bands like the jazz trio In The Country where he plays together with Morten Qvenild and Roger Arntzen, but also for his collaboration with artists like Susanna Wallumrød, '' Bull of the Year'', '' Zahl'' and Music for a While together with Tora Augestad. Career Hausken was a music student at the Norwegian Academy of Music when he together with fellow students Morten Qvenild and Roger Arntzen initiated the band In The Country. Here he play a central role as drummer and with five releases this is the most productive of his projects. Jo Berger Myhre
Jo Berger Myhre (born 29 May 1984 in Sandefjord, Norway) is a Norwegian upright bassist, known from performing with the likes of Splashgirl, Blokk 5, Ingrid Olava, Solveig Slettahjell Slow Motion Quintet and Finland: Grydeland/ Qvenild/ Hausken/Myhre. As a member of the Nils Petter Molvær Quartet (since 2013) he is performing as a bass guitarist and has contributed to two albums, ''Switch'' (2014) and ''Buoyancy'' (2016), to the last even as a co-producer. Career Living in Oslo, Myhre holds a Bachelor degree in performing improvisational music from the Norwegian Academy of Music. In addition he attended one year studies under Anders Jormin at the Music Academy in Gothenburg, Sweden. Morten Qvenild
Morten Qvenild (born 31 August 1978) is a Norwegian jazz pianist, band leader, and producer. Career Qvenild started his jazz career in the big band Ung Musikk in 1995, followed by studies on the Jazz program at the Norges Musikkhøgskole. He used to play in ''Østenfor Sol'' with Ole Jørn Myklebust, with Myklebust's OJ Trio, Shining (1999–2003), and Jaga Jazzist (2000–2002). Since 2000 Qvenild is the "orchestra" of Susanna & the Magical Orchestra and an original member of Solveig Slettahjell's Slow Motion Quintet as well a duo partner. Beyond these enduring collaborations Qvenild is also involved in the Jon Klette Quartet, The National Bank and he toured with Nils Petter Molvær's Khmer and with Bertine Zetlitz Band (2003 and 2004). Rune Grammofon is a Norwegian record label founded in 1998 by Rune Kristoffersen. Rune Grammofon's reputation for lovingly issued experimental electronic music, jazz, and improvised music by Norwegian artists has grown over the years with its artists being featured heavily in magazines such as ''The Wire'' and ''Plan B''. Kongsberg Jazz Festival or Kongsberg Jazzfestival is an international jazz festival that has been held annually in Kongsberg, Norway, since 1964.
