Ivan Varichev
Ivan Mikhailovich Varichev (russian: Ива́н Миха́йлович Ва́ричев; January 15, 1924 – June 7, 2016) Russian Soviet realist painter, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, who live and work in Saint Petersburg (former Leningrad). He is a member of the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists (before 1992 named as the Leningrad branch of Union of Artists of Russian Federation), regarded as one of the brightest representatives of the Leningrad school of painting, most famous for his lyrical landscape of rural Russia. Biography Ivan Mikhailovich Varichev was born January 15, 1924, in village of Nizhnaya Loshikha, Smolensk Province of the USSR. Zlata Nikolaevna Bizova (russian: Зла́та Никола́евна Бызо́ва; 29 March 1927, Leningrad, USSR - 8 August 2013) was a Russian Soviet realist painter and graphic artist, who lived and worked in Saint Petersburg (former Leningrad). She was a member of the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists (before 1992 named as the Leningrad branch of Union of Artists of Russian Federation) and is regarded as one of representatives of the Leningrad school of painting. The Medal "For Courage" or Medal "For Valour" (russian: Медаль «За отвагу») is a state decoration of the Russian Federation that was retained from the Soviet awards system following the dissolution of the USSR. Award history The Medal "For Courage" was created by the decision of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on October 17, 1938. It was awarded to soldiers of the Soviet Army, Navy, border and internal troops and other citizens of the USSR, as well as to persons who are not citizens of the USSR, for personal courage and bravery displayed in battles against the enemies of the socialist fatherland, while protecting the state border of the USSR, during the performance of military duties in circumstances involving a risk to life.
