Ivan Stretovich
Ivan Alexeyevich Stretovich (russian: Иван Алексеевич Стретович; born 6 October 1996) is a Russian artistic gymnast. He won a silver medal in the team event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Competitive history Career Stretovich started gymnastics at six years old when his mother took him to a gym club. He won gold at his first competition. He trains in Moscow, with the other members of the Russian team, and in Novosibirsk. His gymnastics idol is Hiroyuki Tomita. Junior Stretovich appeared in his first major international competition at the 2012 European Junior Championships where the Russian Team won the silver medal, he was the youngest member of the Team (15 years old). In 2013, Stretovich won the all-around gold at the Russian Junior Championships (in the CMS section). Pommel Horse
The pommel horse is an artistic gymnastics apparatus. Traditionally, it is used by only male gymnasts. Originally made of a metal frame with a wooden body and a leather cover, the modern pommel horse has a metal body covered with foam rubber and leather, with plastic handles (or pommels). Apparatus History The apparatus originates from the Romans, who used wooden horses to teach mounting and dismounting. They later added it to the ancient Olympic Games. 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships was held in Nanning, China at the Guangxi Gymnasium from 3–12 October 2014. The competition was the fourth time a World Artistic Gymnastics Championships has been held in the continent of Asia. Competition schedule All times are CST (UTC+8). Venues Main Arena The main arena where the competition was held was the Guangxi Gymnasium, which opened in 2012. Training Gymnasium The training facility for the competition was held at the Li Ning Sports Park. 2012 European Men's Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 30th European Men's Artistic Gymnastics Championships was held from 23 to 27 May 2012 at Montpellier. The senior and junior events are different. During the senior's qualification the top eight teams progress to the team final, and the top eight gymnasts (two per nation maximum) on each apparatus qualify for the individual finals. After the qualification for the juniors the team medals and places are awarded. Russian Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The Russian Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championships (russian: Первенство России по спортивной гимнастике) are organized annually by the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation. Competitors are divided into the following categories by gender and age: junior males (russian: юниоры, 14–17 years old), junior females (russian: юниорки, label=none, 13–15), boys (russian: юноши, label=none, 11–13) and girls (russian: девушки, label=none, 9–12). Individual events are further divided by skill levels / difficulties. Horizontal Bar
The horizontal bar, also known as the high bar, is an apparatus used by male gymnasts in artistic gymnastics. It traditionally consists of a cylindrical metal (typically steel) bar that is rigidly held above and parallel to the floor by a system of cables and stiff vertical supports. Gymnasts typically wear suede leather grips while performing on the bar. Current elite-level competition uses a stainless steel core rail. The gymnastics elements performed on the horizontal bar are regulated by a Code of Points.
