Ivan Pernar (politician, Born 1889)
Ivan Pernar (3 November 1889 – 2 April 1967) was a Croatian politician of the Croatian Peasant Party. He was a member of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. On 20 June 1928 Pernar was one of several Croatian Peasant Party representatives shot at by People's Radical Party representative Puniša Račić. While Pernar recovered from the gunshot, party leader Stjepan Radić died from the wounds suffered in the attack. During the subsequent January 6th Dictatorship Pernar was jailed in Sremska Mitrovica for 3 years. Pernar was later selected as a senator for the Banovina of Croatia. In 1945, he emigrated to the United States of America where he remained until his death in 1967. Marija Gorica
Marija Gorica () is a municipality in western Zagreb County of Croatia on the border with Slovenia. According to the 2001 census, there are 2,089 inhabitants, the absolute majority are Croats. The name of the settlement is derived from the patron saint of the parish church, which is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. ''Marija'' is a Croatian form of the name Mary, while ''Gorica'' means "hill" (and particularly wine-growing hills). The church was founded in the 16th century as a Franciscan monastery, and its first patron saint had been Saint Peter. The change of patronage happened in the second half of the 17th century, when a statue of the Virgin from the church altar became famous for its supposed healing powers. Sremska Mitrovica (; sr-Cyrl, Сремска Митровица, hu, Szávaszentdemeter, la, Sirmium) is a city and the administrative center of the Srem District in the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. Ivan Pernar (politician, Born 1985)
Ivan Pernar (born 14 October 1985) is a Croatian politician and activist. In June 2011, he founded the Alliance for Change party, which later became Human Shield. He was a member of Croatian Parliament from the 2016 elections to May 2020, having been elected in the 6th electoral district on the joint party list of Human Shield, Let's Change Croatia and Youth Action. In June 2019, he announced that he left the Human Shield party, that he founded in 2011, accusing the president of the party, Ivan Vilibor Sinčić and his wife of "turning the party into a private property". At a press conference held in the Croatian Parliament, he stated that he had requested the deletion of the Human Shield membership and that he would set up a new party on 7 July 2019. The Banovina of Croatia or Banate of Croatia ( sh-Latn-Cyrl, separator=" / ", Banovina Hrvatska, Бановина Хрватска) was an autonomous province ( banovina) of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia between 1939 and 1941. It was formed by a merger of Sava and Littoral banovinas into a single autonomous entity, with small parts of the Drina, Zeta, and Danube banovinas also included.
