Itzhak Peretz
Yitzhak "Vicky" Peretz ( he, יצחק "ויקי" פרץ, 11 February 1953 – 29 June 2021) was an Israeli Olympic football player who played for the Israel national team, and manager. He played for Maccabi Ramat Amidar, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Strasbourg, Rennes, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Shimshon Tel Aviv, Beitar Netanya, Hapoel Lod, and Maccabi HaShikma Ramat Hen. He earned a gold medal playing for Team Israel at the 1973 Maccabiah Games, and in 1976 he played for the Israel national football team in the Montreal Olympics. Personal life Peretz was born in Kfar Saba, Israel. He later lived in Ramat Gan, Israel. His son, Omer, has followed in his father's footsteps. His brother in law was Avi Cohen, former international footballer, and his nephew is Tamir Cohen. Peretz died at 68 years of age on 29 June 2021, apparently by suicide. The Israel State Cup ( he, גביע המדינה, ''Gvia HaMedina''), is a knockout cup competition in Israeli football, run by the Israel Football Association (IFA). The State Cup was first held in 1928 as the People's Cup. Because it involves clubs of all standards playing against each other, there is the possibility for "minnows" from the lower divisions to become "giant-killers" by eliminating top clubs from the tournament, although lower division teams rarely reach the final. The Israeli Premier League ( he, ליגת העל, ''Ligat Ha`Al'', ), is a professional association football league which operates as the highest division of the Israeli Football League – the state's league of Israel. Hakoah Maccabi Amidar Ramat Gan Football Club ( he, מועדון כדורגל הכח מכבי עמידר רמת גן) is an Israeli football club based in Ramat Gan. The club is currently in Liga Alef South division and plays at the Winter Stadium in Ramat Shikma, a neighbourhood of Ramat Gan. History The club was established in 1959 by a merger of Hakoah Tel Aviv and Maccabi Ramat Gan. Israel National Under-17 Football Team
The Israel national under-17 football team represents Israel in association football at the under-17 youth level, and is controlled by the Israel Football Association. The team is for Israeli players aged 17 or under at the start of a two-year European Under-17 Football Championship cycle, so players can be up to 17 years old. Liga Leumit ( he, ליגה לאומית, lit. ''National League'') is the second division of the Israeli Football League, and below its Premier League. Structure There are 16 clubs in the league. At the end of each season, the two lowest-placed teams are relegated to Liga Alef while the two highest-placed teams from Liga Alef are promoted in their place. The two highest-placed Liga Leumit teams are promoted to the Israeli Premier League while the bottom two teams from Israeli Premier League are relegated in their place. Tamir Cohen ( he, תמיר כהן; born 4 March 1984) is an Israeli former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He is the son of the late Maccabi Tel Aviv and Liverpool player Avi Cohen. Club career Early career Cohen was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, to a family of both Sephardi Jewish ( Italian-Jewish, Egyptian-Jewish) and Mizrahi Jewish ( Egyptian-Jewish) descent.
