Itami Station (JR West)
is a passenger railway station located in the city of Itami, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by the West Japan Railway Company (JR West)..The station is connected to a large indoor mall to the northwest by a broad pedestrian bridge. Though Hankyu Itami Station is not within easy walking distance, there is also a series of broad pedestrian streets heading in its direction. Lines Itami Station is served by the Fukuchiyama Line (JR Takarazuka Line), and is located 5.8 kilometers from the terminus of the line at and 13.5 kilometers from . Hankyu Itami Station
is a train station in Itami, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan that serves as the northern terminus of the Itami Line. History The station opened in 1920 at street level on a site approximately 150 meters southeast of its present location, and relocated to its present elevated site in 1968. The station was severely damaged by the Great Hanshin earthquake in January 1995, and ceased operations until March, when a temporary terminal opened 400m away. The 1968 station site was redeveloped as the "Reita" complex, and the station moved back to its original location in November 1998. In 2007, Hyogo Prefecture announced plans to connect the station to JR Itami Station and Itami Airport via a light rail system, but funds have yet to be committed to the project. Amagasaki Derailment
The 2005 JR occurred in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, on 25 April 2005 at 09:19 local time (00:19 UTC), just after the local rush hour. It occurred when a seven-car commuter train came off the tracks on West Japan Railway Company's (JR West) Fukuchiyama Line in just before Amagasaki Station on its way for Dōshisha-mae via the JR Tōzai Line and the Gakkentoshi Line, and the front two cars rammed into an apartment building. The first car slid into the first-floor parking garage and as a result took days to remove, while the second slammed into the corner of the building, being crushed into an L-shaped against it by the weight of the remaining cars. Of the roughly 700 passengers (initial estimate was 580 passengers) on board at the time of the crash, 106 passengers, in addition to the driver, were killed and 562 others injured. Itami Airport
, often referred to as is the primary regional airport for the Kansai region of Japan, including the major cities of Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. Classified as a first class airport, it is the airport closest to Kyoto, southwest of Kyoto Station. Despite its "international" designation, the airport caters exclusively to domestic flights.
