Racquetball
Racquetball is a racquet sport and a team sport played with a hollow rubber ball on an indoor or outdoor court. Joseph Sobek invented the modern sport of racquetball in 1950, adding a stringed racquet to paddleball in order to increase velocity and control. Unlike most racquet sports, such as tennis and badminton, there is no net to hit the ball over, and, unlike squash, no tin (out of bounds area at the bottom of front wall) to hit the ball above. Also, the court's walls, floor, and ceiling are legal playing surfaces, with the exception of court-specific designated hinders being out-of-bounds. Racquetball is played between various players on a team who try to bounce the ball with the racquet onto the ground so it hits the wall, so that an opposing team’s player cannot bounce it back to the wall. European Racquetball Federation
The European Racquetball Federation (ERF) is the governing body for racquetball in Europe to promote the sport of racquetball in Europe. The ERF was founded on 27 June 1985 in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands. Every two years the ERF organizes the European Racquetball Championships, and every year organizes the European Racquetball Tour (ERT). Racquetball World Championships
The World Racquetball Championships is the top international racquetball competition organized by the International Racquetball Federation (IRF). History The first event was held in 1981 as part of the 1981 World Games. The second World Championships were in 1984, and they have been a biannual event since then with the exception of the COVID-19 pandemic period, which delayed the 2020 event by one year. Worlds have been held in 13 countries across four continents: North and South America as well as Asia and Europe. The United States has hosted Worlds most often - 4 times, though not since 1996, followed by Mexico, 3 times, and twice each in Canada, the Dominican Republic, and South Korea. The 2022 World Championships were held in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, which was the first time Worlds was in Mexico since 2000, when it was also held in San Luis Potosi. 2004 Racquetball World Championships
The 12th Racquetball World Championships were held in Anyang (South Korea) from July 30 to August 7, 2004, with players from 17 different countries. The USA swept the gold medals, winning both singles and doubles in the Men’s and Women’s competitions as well as both Men’s and Women’s team competitions. Jack Huczek of the USA won Men’s Singles for the 2nd time, successfully defending the title he won in 2002. Cheryl Gudinas of the USA won her 3rd straight Women’s Singles title. In doubles, the USA’s Jackie Paraiso and Kim Russell successfully defended their Women’s Doubles title. The win was the third consecutive for Russell, who won with Kersten Hallander in 2000. Paraiso’s win was her 6th Women’s Doubles World Championship. Their team-mates, Mike Dennison and Shane Vanderson both won for the first time in Men’s Doubles. 2010 Racquetball World Championships
The 15th Racquetball World Championships were held in Seoul (South Korea) from August 13 to 21, 2010, with 16 men's national teams and 11 women's national teams; and several players in the Singles and Doubles competition. The incumbent champions in men's and women's singles were Americans Rocky Carson and Rhonda Rajsich, respectively, and they successfully defended their titles in Seoul. In doubles, the Americans successfully defended the men's doubles title, and Mitch Williams was part of the winning team again, although in 2010 he won with Ben Croft while in 2008 Jason Thoerner was his partner. Bad Tölz (; Bavarian language, Bavarian: ''Däiz'') is a Town#Germany, town in Bavaria, Germany and the administrative center of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district. History Archaeology has shown continuous occupation of the site of Bad Tölz since the retreat of the glaciers at the end of the Last Glacial Period, Ice Age.
