Stefano Tilli
Stefano Tilli (born 22 August 1962) is a former Italian sprinter who specialized in the 100 and 200 m, twice European indoor champion, three-time semi-finalist at the Olympic Games, and was the world record holder in the 200m indoor. Biography Tilli was born in Orvieto, Umbria. In his career he won 17 medals at the International athletics competitions, eight of these with national relays team. He also won 14 national championships, from 1984 to 2000, and he has 51 caps in national team, from 1983 to 2000. His personal best in the 100m is 10.16 seconds, which he ran in August 1984 in Zurich. His personal best in the 200m is 20.40 seconds, achieved in September 1984 in Cagliari. Stefano Tilli used to be engaged to the Jamaican sprinter Merlene Ottey, whom he also coached for a period. 1990 European Athletics Championships – Men's 5000 Metres
These are the official results of the Men's 5,000 metres event at the 1990 European Championships in Split, Yugoslavia, held at Stadion Poljud on 30 August and 1 September 1990. Medalists Results Final 1 September Italy's Salvatore Antibo, who was the strongest pre-race favourite to win also this final, having taken the 10,000-metre European title with a solo run, fell at the start, and therefore had to run faster than the other runners for the first 700 metres, in order to catch them. Portugal's Domingos Castro first led the race, but soon thereafter France's Cyrille Laventure took the lead. Laventure was still leading the race at 3,000 metres in 8:09.15, and at 4,000 metres in 10:53.34. Despite the moderate pace, almost all runners were still in the lead group at this point. These are the official results of the Men's 1500 metres event at the 1990 European Championships in Split, Yugoslavia, held at Stadion Poljud on 30 August and 1 September 1990. Medalists Final Heats †: Peter Elliott from the United Kingdom fell after having been pushed by East German Hauke Fuhlbrügge and did not finish the race. The East German was disqualified. After protests of the British officials, Elliott was admitted to run in the final. The decision was a precedent case and not without controversy.
