The Minister for the South and Cohesion Policies (Italian: ''Ministro per il Sud e le Politiche di Coesione'') in Italy is one of the positions in the Italian government. The current minister is Raffaele Fitto, of Brothers of Italy, who is serving since 22 October 2022. From 1964 to 1987 and, again, from 1988 to 1993 Italian governments included a "minister for the Extraordinary Interventions in the Mezzogiorno" (1964–1966, 1972–1987, 1988–1993) or a "minister for the Extraordinary Interventions in the Mezzogiorno and the depressed areas" (1966–1972). Raffaele Fitto
Raffaele Fitto (born 28 August 1969) is an Italian politician and a member of the European Parliament. He is serving as the minister of European affairs in the Meloni Cabinet since 2022. Career Born in Maglie, Fitto was elected in 1999 at European Parliament for Forza Italia. On 17 May 2015, Fitto left Forza Italia and the European People's Party parliamentary group to join the European Conservatives and Reformists. In 2022 he was appointed to the Meloni government. He was replaced in the European Parliament by Denis Nesci. Carlo Trigilia
Carlo Trigilia (born 18 June 1951) is an Italian academic and politician, who served as minister for territorial cohesion from 28 April 2013 to February 2014. He is a professor emeritus in economic sociology at the University of Florence. Early life and education Trigilia was born in Syracuse on 18 June 1951. He graduated from the University of Florence with a degree in sociology in 1974. He was fellow of the American Social Science Research Council (Cornell University and Harvard University). The Monti government was the sixty-first government of Italy and was announced on 16 November 2011. This Government of Experts, Experts' cabinet was composed of independents, three of whom were women and was formed as an interim government. Fabrizio Barca (born 8 March 1954) is an Italian senior civil servant and politician, who served as a state minister without portfolio for territorial cohesion in the Monti cabinet from 2011 to 2013. The fourth Berlusconi government was the 60th government of Italy, in office from 8 May 2008 to 16 November 2011. The second Prodi government was the cabinet of the government of Italy from 17 May 2006 to 8 May 2008, a total of 722 days, or 1 year, 11 months and 21 days. The 59th cabinet of the Italian Republic, it was the only cabinet of the XV Legislature. It was composed of 24 ministers, 10 deputy-ministers and 66 under-secretaries, for a total of 102 members.
