(Italian: ''Sono stato io!'') is a 1937 Italian comedy film directed by Raffaello Matarazzo and starring Eduardo De Filippo, Peppino De Filippo and Titina De Filippo.Moliterno p.101 The film was based on a play, ''Sarà stato Giovannino'' by Paola Riccora. Raffaello Matarazzo
Raffaello Matarazzo (17 August 1909 – 17 May 1966) was an Italian filmmaker. Life Matarazzo started writing film reviews for the Roman newspaper ''Il Tevere'' before re-editing scripts for the Italian film company Cines. His first films were comedies until he shifted to making melodramas. With '' Catene'', produced by Titanus in 1949, he became the most successful director in Italy. Audience loved his melodramas. Critics, however, have tended to disparage his work, saying that Matarazzo films were ''Neorealismo d'appendice'' (neorealism wannabe). Lina Gennari (22 March 1911 – 11 October 1997) was an Italian actress and operetta singer. Born Carolina Gennari in Bologna, she made her debut in the early 1920s in the Schwarz stage company, and she had her first role as prima donna in the operetta ''Al cavallino bianco''. Marisa Vernati
Marisa Vernati (21 June 1920 – 1 February 1988) was an Italian actress. Born in Rome, Vernati was helped by her aunt soprano Luisa Tetrazzini to enter the world of entertainment, starting with small roles in films directed by Raffaello Matarazzo and Camillo Mastrocinque. Her film career was mainly limited to stereotyped roles of "femme fatale" or seductress in sentimental melodramas and romantic comedies. Her career on stage was more successful, as Vernati was the prima donna in several successful revues, with the companies of Nino Taranto, Tino Scotti and Fanfulla, among others. In 1947, after her marriage to an Iranian doctor, she followed her husband who for professional reasons had to move to Turkey.
