It's Only The Beginning
"It's Only the Beginning" is a song by Australian singer songwriter Deborah Conway. It was released as the first single from her debut studio album ''String of Pearls'' (1991). It peaked at number 19 in Australia in August 1991. The song was written by Conway and American songwriter Scott Cutler. When the song was first completed, Conway said she felt "embarrassed", lamenting to her former Do-Re-Mi bandmate, Dorland Bray: “It’s so happy, I can’t cope, what am I doing?”. Together they rewrote the song. “I tried to cloak it, disguise its happiness,” Conway recalls. But she finally gave in to the joy of it. “The recorded version is the original lyric without the de-happifying of it.” At the ARIA Music Awards of 1992, the song was nominated for four awards. Deborah Conway
Deborah Ann Conway (born 8 August 1959) is an Australian rock singer-songwriter and guitarist, and had a career as a model and actress. She was a founding member of the 1980s rock band Do-Ré-Mi with their top 5 hit "Man Overboard". Conway performs solo and has a top 20 hit single with "It's Only the Beginning" (1991). The associated album, '' String of Pearls'', also peaked in the top 20. She won the ARIA Award for Best Female Artist at the 1992 awards. ''Preloved'' is the fifth studio album by Australian country music singer Beccy Cole. It was released in September 2010 and peaked at number 32 on the ARIA Charts. In an interview with the Newcastle Herald in December 2010, Cole said; "''Preloved'' is a bunch of songs that helped shape me from birth till now. The original list was more than 200 songs long but I managed to whittle it down to 12, albeit a hard task! Beccy Cole (born Rebecca Diane Thompson, 27 October 1972), also known as Beccy Sturtzel, Rebecca Diane Albeck and Bec O'Donovan, is an Australian country music singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Simon Cyril Hussey (born 7 July 1960) is an Australian multi-instrumentalist, songwriter-arranger, record producer and audio engineer. In 1984 he formed Cats Under Pressure on keyboards with David Reyne (ex-Australian Crawl) on vocals and Mark Greig on guitar. Baby Animals is an Australian hard rock band active from October 1989 to 1996 and reformed in 2007. The original line-up was Frank Celenza on drums; Suze DeMarchi on lead vocals and guitar; Dave Leslie on guitar and backing vocals; and Eddie Parise on bass guitar and backing vocals. They recorded two studio albums, ''Baby Animals'' (September 1991) – which peaked at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, and ''Shaved and Dangerous'' (August 1993) – which reached No. 2. Treaty (song)
"Treaty" is a protest song by Australian musical group Yothu Yindi, which is made up of Aboriginal and '' balanda (non-Aboriginal)'' members. Released in June 1991, "Treaty" was the first song by a predominantly Aboriginal band to chart in Australia and was the first song partly in any Aboriginal Australian language to gain extensive international recognition, peaking at No. 6 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Club Play singles charts. The song contains lyrics in Gumatj, one of the Yolngu Matha dialects and a language of the Yolngu people of Arnhem Land in northern Australia. The song was released three years after the presentation of the Barunga Statement to then-Prime Minister Bob Hawke. Yothu Yindi (Yolŋu Matha, Yolngu for "child and mother", pronounced ) are an Australian musical group with Australian Aboriginal, Aboriginal and ''List of English words of Malay origin#B, balanda'' (non-Aboriginal) members, formed in 1986 as a merger of two bands formed in 1985 – a white rock group called the Swamp Jockeys and an unnamed Aboriginal folk group.
