"It's All in Your Mind" is a single by Beck, released in 1995. Although then a non-album single (being a 7" of outtakes from his album ''One Foot in the Grave''), a later version was recorded and included on his album '' Sea Change'' (2002); this recording is more widely known. The rerecording is the seventh track on Beck's 2002 album, ''Sea Change''. It is perhaps one of the simplest songs on the album lyrically; many phrases are repeated, with 'I wanted to be' iterated nine times. The song was rerecorded for ''Sea Change'', because during one session, Hansen began strumming the song randomly before starting a new song, and producer Nigel Godrich became ecstatic, saying "We have to do that." The strikingly different re-recorded version released on ''Sea Change'' was described by Beck as an "evolved song". ''One Foot in the Grave'' is the third independent studio album and fourth overall by American alternative rock musician Beck, released in June 1994 on K Records, an independent label. It was recorded prior to the release of ''Mellow Gold'', but was not released until after that album had met critical and commercial success. ''One Foot in the Grave'' shows a strong lo-fi and folk influence, and features several songs that are interpolations or covers of songs popularized by artists like Skip James and The Carter Family. ''Sea Change'' is the eighth studio album by American musician Beck, released on September 24, 2002 by Geffen Records. Recorded over a two-month period in Los Angeles with producer Nigel Godrich, the album features themes of heartbreak and desolation, solitude, and loneliness. For the album, much of Beck's trademark cryptic and ironic lyrics were replaced by simpler, more sincere lyrical content. He also eschewed the heavy sampling of his previous albums for live instrumentation. Beck cited the breakup with his longtime girlfriend as the major influence on the album. Anti-folk (sometimes referred to as unfolk) is a music genre that emerged in the 1980s in response to the remnants of the 1960s folk music scene. K Records is an independent record label in Olympia, Washington founded in 1982. Artists on the label included early releases by Beck, Modest Mouse and Built to Spill. The record label has been called "key to the development of independent music" since the 1980s. The label was founded by Beat Happening frontman Calvin Johnson and managed for many years by Candice Pedersen. "Beercan" is a single by Beck, taken from his first major record label release, ''Mellow Gold''. It peaked at number 27 on the U.S. Modern Rock Tracks charts. Conception and recording "Beercan" was produced by Carl Stephenson and featured his characteristic layers of sound and bizarre samples: this song in particular prominently features samples from a Care Bears album. "Where It's At" is a song by American alternative rock musician Beck. It was released as the first single from his fifth album, ''Odelay'' (1996). Beck wrote the song in 1995 and premiered it at Lollapalooza the same year, in a version very similar to its incarnation on ''Odelay''. He has performed the song often since 1995, frequently experimenting with the music and lyrics. Production "Where It's At" has a number of spoken samples that Beck and the Dust Brothers incorporated into it. Many of these come from an obscure sex education album titled ''Sex for Teens: (Where It's At)'', a subtitle Beck borrowed (see link below). Nigel Timothy Godrich (born 28 February 1971) is an English record producer, recording engineer and musician. He is known for his work with the English rock band Radiohead, having produced all their studio albums since '' OK Computer'' (1997). He has also produced several projects by the Radiohead singer, Thom Yorke. He is a member of Atoms for Peace (with Yorke) and Ultraísta. Early in his career, Godrich worked as the house engineer at RAK Studios, London, under the producer John Leckie. He met Radiohead while working at RAK on their second album, '' The Bends'' (1995), for which he received his first production credit. Bridge School Benefit
The Bridge School Benefit was an annual charity concert usually held in Mountain View, California, every October at the Shoreline Amphitheatre from 1986 until 2016 with the exception of 1987. The concerts lasted the entire weekend and were organized by musicians Neil Young and Pegi Young. An annual Bay Area highlight, the concerts were billed online as the primary means of funding for The Bridge School; over both days, the reserved seats alone brought in well over a million dollars every year. Partial proceeds benefited the Bridge School, which assists children with severe physical impairments and complex communication needs.
