''It's All Me, Vol. 1'' (stylized IT'S ALL ME VOL 1) is an extended play by Japanese Americans, Japanese-American singer-songwriter Ai (singer), Ai. It was released on July 8, 2020, through EMI Records and features a departure from the traditional Japanese and western electropop sounds found in her 2017 studio album, ''Wa to Yo''. Featuring collaborations with Jenn Morel, Joelii and MJ116, majority of the extended play was recorded in Los Angeles, California. Background To celebrate her twenty-year anniversary in the music industry and the then upcoming 2020 Summer Olympics, Ai began production for an album in 2019. , known mononymously as Ai (, stylized as AI or A.I. ), is a Japanese-American singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, spokeswoman, and actress. Born in Los Angeles, California, Ai moved to Kagoshima, at age 4. Motivated to become a singer, Ai returned to Los Angeles, attending the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. While in Los Angeles, Ai began her musical career performing as part of a gospel choir at a Mary J. Blige concert and as a dancer for Janet Jackson's music video, " Go Deep". is the eleventh studio album by Japanese-American singer-songwriter Ai (singer), Ai. It was released on June 7, 2017, through EMI Records and Universal Music Group. Featuring two discs, the ''Wa'' disc was recorded in Japanese with traditional Japanese sounds while the ''Yo'' disc was recorded in English with R&B and hip hop sounds. "Gift" is a song recorded by Japanese-American singer-songwriter Ai, released April 24, 2020, by EMI Records. The song served as the theme song for TBS' ''King's Brunch'' and subsequently as the fifth and final single from Ai's extended play, ''It's All Me, Vol. 1''. Background and promotion In March 2020, TBS announced Ai would be releasing a song titled "Gift", which would serve as the theme song for their ''King's Brunch'' variety show in celebration of its 25th anniversary. The program's chief producer Wataru Hiraga stated that only the chorus of the song would be used for the theme song, but recommended to listen to the full song. Background and release Celebrating her twenty year anniversary in the music industry, Ai traveled to her hometown, Los Angeles, California to record new material. Looking to collaborate with various artists around the world, Ai discovered MJ116, a hip hop group based in Taiwan. After talking to the group via email and Line, Ai traveled to Taiwan to record a song. Members of MJ116 were nervous at first to record with Ai when they first received a demo of the song. Prior to meeting in-person, the group received affirmations from Ai, which built up their confidence to record with her.
