Israel participated in the 1970 Asian Games held in Bangkok, Thailand from 9 December 20 December 1970. The Israeli delegation was led by Esther Roth who won all of Israel's six gold medals. The Olympic Committee of Israel (Hebrew: הוועד האולימפי בישראל) is the recognized National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Israel, and the governing body of Olympic sports in Israel. The OCI's headquarters is located at the National Sport Center – Tel Aviv. History In 1933 the Palestine National Olympic Committee was officially formed, and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee in May 1934, despite never competing. Although this committee represented Jews, Christians and Muslims living in Mandatory Palestine, its rules stated that they "represent dthe Jewish National Home." Esther Roth-Shahamorov
Esther Roth-Shahamorov ( he, אסתר רוט-שחמורוב; born April 16, 1952) is a former Israeli track and field athlete. She specialized in the 100-meter hurdles and the 100-meter sprint. Early and personal life Esther Shahamorov was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, to an Ashkenazi Jewish family. In 1973, she married Peter Roth, a gymnast, who became her coach. She has a son, Yaron (born 1974), who was a national champion in fencing, and a daughter, Einat. After she retired from competitive sport she became a sports schoolteacher. Track career Records She once held simultaneously five Israeli national records. One of them is still a record and two others held for over 20 years. *Her time of 11.45s in the 100m, set at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, was broken on Sat Apr 19, 2014, by Olga Lansky. Ronald Green (רוני גרין; August 5, 1944 – July 2012) was an American-Israeli basketball player. He played the forward position. He played in the Israel Basketball Premier League, and for the Israeli national basketball team. Biography Green was born in Miami Beach, Florida, and was Jewish. Tanhum Cohen-Mintz (תנחום (תני) כהן-מינץ; also "Tanchum or Tani" and "Cohen-Minz"; October 18, 1939 – October 11, 2014) was an Israeli professional basketball player. He was 6'8 " (2.04 m ) tall, and he played at the center position. Early life Cohen-Mintz, who was Jewish, was born in Riga, Latvia. Basketball career Cohen-Mintz started his sporting career in tennis, following the footsteps of his mother, Edith Cohen-Mintz, who was Israel's women's tennis champion for several years in the 1950s. He himself was Israel's junior tennis champion. He was viewed on the tennis court by legendary basketball coach Yehoshua Rozin, who was impressed by his height and athletic abilities.
