Isoma ( el, Ίσωμα) is a village in the municipal unit of Farres, Achaea, Greece. It is 2 km northwest of Fares and 16 km south of Patras. Isoma had a population of 452 in 2011. Western Greece Region ( el, Περιφέρεια Δυτικής Ελλάδας, translit=Periféria Dhitikís Elládhas, ) is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece. Achaea () or Achaia (), sometimes transliterated from Greek as Akhaia (, ''Akhaïa'' ), is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Western Greece and is situated in the northwestern part of the Peloponnese peninsula. The capital is Patras which is the third largest city in Greece. Geography Achaea is bordered by Elis to the west and southwest, Arcadia to the south, and Corinthia to the east and southeast. The Gulf of Corinth lies to its northeast, and the Gulf of Patras to its northwest. The mountain Panachaiko (1926 m), though not the highest of Achaea, dominates the coastal area near Patras. Farres
Farres ( el, Φαρρές) is a former municipality in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Erymanthos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 241.848 km2. The municipality Farres existed between 1835 and 1912, and again between 1998 and 2011. Its seat of administration was in the town Chalandritsa. Farres is situated in the centre of Achaea, on the upper courses of the rivers Peiros and Parapeiros. Towards the southeast (Mount Erymanthos) and northeast (Panachaiko) the terrain is increasingly mountainous. It is located about 15 km south of Patras and 30 km west of Kalavryta. Fares ( el, Φαρές; grc, Φαραί, Pharai; la, Pharae) is a village in the municipal unit of Farres, Achaea, Greek. It is located on the left bank of the river Peiros, 2 km southeast of Isoma and 17 km south of Patras. In 2011 Fares had a population of 466 for the village and 519 for the community, which includes the village Prevedos. Prevedos is on the Greek National Road 33 (Patras - Tripoli). History Fares is named after the ancient town Pharae, which might be named after the Greek mythological figure Pharis, son of Hermes and the Danaid Philodameia. The Peiros ( el, Πείρος, formerly also ''Kamenitza'' and ''Achelous'') is a river in the central and the northwestern parts of Achaea, Greece. It is long. Geography The Peiros is the second longest river in Achaea, after Selinountas. It rises in the northeastern part of the Erymanthos mountains, near the village Lakkomata.
