Islington London Borough Council Election, 2014
The 2014 Islington Council election took place on 22 May 2014 to elect members of Islington Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections. The final result was 47 seats for the Labour Party and 1 seat for the Green Party of England and Wales. The Labour Party received 56 per cent of the vote, its highest total in Islington since 1974. The Liberal Democrats lost all its seats despite having controlled the Council as a minority administration from 2006â2010. The Green Party of England and Wales (GPEW; cy, Plaid Werdd Cymru a Lloegr, kw, Party Gwer Pow an Sowson ha Kembra, often simply the Green Party or Greens) is a green, left-wing political party in England and Wales. Islington London Borough Council is the local authority for the London Borough of Islington in Greater London, England. The council was created by the London Government Act 1963 and replaced two local authorities: Finsbury Metropolitan Borough Council and Islington Metropolitan Borough Council. It is a London borough council, one of 32 in the United Kingdom capital of London. Islington is divided into 17 wards, each electing three councillors. Following the May 2022 election, Islington Council comprises 48 Labour Party councillors and 3 Green Party councillors. James Murray (London Politician)
James Stewart Murray (born 13 July 1983) is a British Labour and Co-operative politician who has served as Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury since 2020. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ealing North since the 2019 general election. From 2016 to 2019, he was Deputy Mayor for Housing for the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. Early life Murray was born in Hammersmith to parents Geoffrey and Lynne Murray. His mother Lynne was a Labour councillor for Cleveland ward in Ealing from 2014 to 2018. Claudia Webbe
Claudia Naomi Webbe (born 8 March 1965) is a British politician who is currently the Member of Parliament (MP) for Leicester East. Elected to Parliament for Labour in the 2019 general election, she currently sits as an independent. Born in Leicester, Webbe was a councillor in the London Borough of Islington from 2010 until her resignation in March 2021, having served as its cabinet member for environment and transport. She was a member of the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party from 2016 until her election to Parliament. Webbe is the first female MP for Leicester East. James Humphreys (born 1967) is a political analyst and author. He grew up in Cambridgeshire and studied Social History at Cambridge University.
