Isidora Niemeyer (born 26 December 2001) is a Chilean rower. Niemeyer competed at the 2019 Pan American Games where she won a gold medal in the Women's Quadruple sculls event and a silver medal in the Lightweight Women's Double Sculls event. The Pan American Games (also known colloquially as the Pan Am Games) is a continental multi-sport event in the Americas featuring summer sports, in which thousands of athletes participate in a variety of competitions. The competition is held among athletes from nations of the Americas, every four years in the year before the Summer Olympic Games. The only Winter Pan American Games were held in 1990. In 2021, the Junior Pan American Games was held for the first time specifically for young athletes. The 2019 Pan American Games ( es, Juegos Panamericanos de 2019, links=no), officially the XVIII Pan American Games and commonly known as the Lima 2019 Pan-Am Games or Lima 2019 ( qu, Limaq 2019), were a multi-sport event governed by the Panam Sports Organization, were held in Lima, Peru from July 26 to August 11, 2019, with preliminary rounds in certain events having begun on July 24, 2019. These were the first Pan American Games to be held in Peru, and the seventh to be held in South America. The opening ceremony took place on July 26 at the National Stadium, and the Games were declared open by former Peruvian President Martín Vizcarra. These Pan American Games were held at venues in and around Lima, and are the largest sporting event ever hosted by the country. Rowing (sport), Rowing competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru are scheduled to be held between August 6 and 10, 2019 at Albufera Medio Mundo in Huacho. Fourteen medal events are scheduled to be contested, eight for males and six for females. Rowing At The 2018 Summer Youth Olympics
Rowing at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 7 to 10 October. The events took place at the Puerto Madero in Buenos Aires, Argentina, being raced over a 500 metre 4 lane course, under the Puente de la Mujer. Racing started with a time trial (out, round a buoy, and back) to allocate crews to heats. There were two rounds of heats with crews being awarded points based on their ranking in each heat and the accumulated points from the two heats determining progression to the quarter-finals of the singles and semi-finals of the pairs. Qualification Six qualification events were held to determine the representation for the 2018 Youth Olympics, the 2017 World Junior Championships and five continental qualifiers. Rowing is the act of propelling a human-powered watercraft using the sweeping motions of oars to displace water and generate reactional propulsion. Rowing is functionally similar to paddling, but rowing requires oars to be mechanically attached to the boat, and the rower drives the oar like a lever, exerting force in the ''same'' direction as the boat's travel; while paddles are completely hand-held and have no attachment to the boat, and are driven like a cantilever, exerting force ''opposite'' to the intended direction of the boat.
