Ishwardi Airport
Ishwardi Airport is a domestic airport located at Ishwardi Upazila in Pabna District. Biman Bangladesh Airlines had regular flights to Dhaka until 1996. On 18 November 2013, United Airways resumed flights to Dhaka, thus commercial services resumed after 17 years, but flights to the airport were suspended in mid 2014. History During World War II, the airport was known as the Hijli Base Area, and was used by the Twentieth Air Force. It hosted the United States Army Air Force XX Bomber Command 58th Bombardment Wing between 8–24 February 1945, prior to its deployment to the Mariana Islands. Lalpur Upazila
Lalpur ( bn, লালপুর) is an upazila of Natore District, located the Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh. History According to the Imperial Gazetteer of India, all of ancient Natore was beel (wetland) with the exception of Lalpur. The Aryan migrations to Lalpur and Baraigram date back to the Gupta period in the 5th century. During the reign of the Palas and Senas, Lalpur developed into an important administrative centre of Varendra and maintained river communication with Krishnanagar, Nadia. The Naodapara village near Salampur in Lalpur was home to a Sena-era fort and victory pillar. The territories now comprising Lalpur Upazila are home to several '' shahi'' mosques, particularly in the villages of Salampur, Mominpur, Baora, Nabirpara and Madhabpur. Natore District
Natore district is a district of Rajshahi Division located in northern Bangladesh. It borders the metropolitan city of Rajshahi, and used to be part of Rajshahi district. History Natore was the District Headquarters of Rajshahi from 1769 to 1825. Administrative Natore subdivision was established in 1825 under Rajshahi district, on the eve of the shifting of the headquarters. During the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, a battle was fought between the Pakistani army and the freedom fighters of Mukti Bahini on March 29. About 40 members of the Pakistani army including Major Aslam and Captain Ishaq were killed. On 5 May 1971 Pakistani Army killed 42 employees of North Bengal Sugar Mills ( Lalpur) including the general manager of the mill, Lieutenant Anwarul Azim. United Airways (BD) Ltd. (, ), operated as United Airways ( bn, ইউনাইটেড এয়ারওয়েজ), was a Bangladeshi airline headquartered in Uttara, Dhaka. It operated flights from its main hub at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka and secondary hub at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong. It was founded in 2005 and began flights on 10 July 2007 with a Bombardier Dash 8–100, purchased from Island Air. United Airways was the first listed company in the aviation sector of Bangladesh; it became listed in July 2010. The airline was often criticised for their poor service due to frequent delays, flight suspensions and poor in-flight amenities. In September 2014, the airline temporarily suspended its operations for three days following a conflict among its board of directors and a financial crisis. The Twentieth Air Force (Air Forces Strategic) (20th AF) is a numbered air force of the United States Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC). It is headquartered at Francis E. XX Bomber Command
The XX Bomber Command was a United States Army Air Forces bomber formation. Its last assignment was with Twentieth Air Force, based on Okinawa. It was inactivated on 16 July 1945.
