Ishwardi
Ishwardi ( bn, ঈশ্বরদী, Urdu: ایشوردی, ''Ish-shordi)'' is an upazila of Pabna District in Rajshahi Division. It is the westernmost upazila of Pabna district. Containing railway divisional headquarters, this city is a very important communication hub for Bangladesh Railway. Bangladesh's first nuclear power plant Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is also being built here. Etymology While many theories have been proposed about Ishwardi's etymology, no consensus has emerged. According to Banglapedia, the name 'Ishwardi' means God's place. Community Report on Pabna District (2013) says- Geography The upazila occupies an area of 250.89 sq. km. Pabna District
Pabna District ( bn, পাবনা জেলা) is a district in central Bangladesh. It is an economically important district in Bangladesh. Its administrative capital is the eponymous Pabna town. History Archeologist Cunningham conjectured that the name "Pabna" might be derived from the Pundra or Poondrobordhon civilisation, whose capital was Mahasthangarh, the oldest city of Bangladesh, in neighbouring Bogra, but this hypothesis has not received general acceptance among scholars. In 1859–61, the district was one of the major areas involved in the Indigo revolt. Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant
The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant ( bn, রূপপুর পারমাণবিক বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্র) will be a 2.4 GWe nuclear power plant in Bangladesh. The nuclear power plant is being constructed at Rooppur of Ishwardi upazila in Pabna District, on the bank of the river Padma, west of Dhaka. It will be the country's first nuclear power plant, and the first of the two units is expected to go into operation in 2024. The VVER-1200/523 Nuclear reactor and critical infrastructures are being built by the Russian Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation. In the main construction period, the total number of employees will reach 12,500, including 2,500 specialists from Russia. Bheramara ( bn, ভেড়ামারা) is an upazila of Kushtia District in the Division of Khulna, Bangladesh. The upazila is beside the Padma River, and the important Hardinge Bridge crosses the river between Bheramara Upazila and Ishurdi Upazila of Pabna District. Geography Bheramara is located at . Atgharia Upazila
Atghoria( bn, আটঘোরিয়া or আটঘরিয়া) is an upazila of Pabna District in Rajshahi Division, Bangladesh. History A fierce battle was fought in 1971 between the Pak army and the freedom fighters at the Kalamnagor Ghat on river Chandrabati of Majpara Union. Md Anwar Hossain led the battle on the Mukti Bahini side. Sixteen local villagers joined this battle. In this battle 12 freedom fighters and 10 villagers were killed. The Pakistan army lost their commander, Captain Tahir. A foundation has been built to pay respect to all these great heroes including 10 village fighters. Union council ( bn, ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ, translit=iūniyan pariṣad, translit-std=IAST), also known as union parishad, rural council, rural union and simply union, is the smallest rural administrative and local government unit in Bangladesh. Each union council is made up of nine wards. Usually one village is designated as a ward. There are 4,562 unions in Bangladesh. 2011 Bangladesh Census
In 2011, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, conducted a national census in Bangladesh, which provided a provisional estimate of the total population of the country as 142,319,000. The previous decennial census was the 2001 census. Data were recorded from all of the districts and upazilas and main cities in Bangladesh including statistical data on population size, households, sex and age distribution, marital status, economically active population, literacy and educational attainment, religion, number of children etc. Bangladesh and India also conducted their first joint census of areas along their border in 2011. According to the census, Hindus constituted 8.5 per cent of the population as of 2011, down from 9.6 per cent in the 2001 census.
