Isabelino Canaveris
Isabelino Canaveris (1852 c. 1915) was an Uruguayan patriot, military, revolutionary and politician, who served as president of the National Party in the Argentine Republic. He participated in most of the armed confrontations between the National Party (Uruguay), Blancos and Colorado Party (Uruguay), Colorados. He served under the command of Generals Timoteo Aparicio and Aparicio Saravia, taking an active part during the actions produced during the Revolution of the Lances, Revolución de 1870 and Revolución of 1897, Revolución de 1897 against the governments of Lorenzo Batlle and Juan Idiarte Borda. He also served in the Orientals forces that supported the cause of Ricardo López Jordán in the Entre Ríos Province, participating in the Battle of Sauce (Entre Ríos), Battle of Sauce, against the National troops under the command of General Emilio Conesa. Lieutenant colonel ( , ) is a rank of commissioned officers in the armies, most marine forces and some air forces of the world, above a major and below a colonel. Several police forces in the United States use the rank of lieutenant colonel. The rank of lieutenant colonel is often shortened to simply "colonel" in conversation and in unofficial correspondence. Sometimes, the term 'half-colonel' is used in casual conversation in the British Army. In the United States Air Force, the term 'light bird' or 'light bird colonel' (as opposed to a 'full bird colonel') is an acceptable casual reference to the rank but is never used directly towards the rank holder.
