Isabel Campoy
Isabel Campoy (born June 25, 1946 in Alicante, Spain) is an author of children's books, poetry, and pedagogical resources. Central to Campoy's work is the promotion of bilingual education. Biography F. Isabel Campoy was born in Alicante, Spain on June 25, 1946. Her father was a professor of English and her mother a tailor. Campoy first came to the US at the age of 16 as an AFS Intercultural Programs exchange student for one year of high school in Trenton, Michigan. She received her degree in English Philology at the Complutense University of Madrid in 1973 and completed post-graduate courses at University of Reading. She returned to the US as a Fulbright Scholar to continue her doctoral studies at UCLA. In 1981, she emigrated permanently to the United States where she worked as the senior acquisitions editor for foreign languages in the College Division of Houghton Mifflin in Boston. Kathleen Krull
Kathleen Krull (July 29, 1952 – January 15, 2021) was an author of children's books and a former book editor. Early life and education Krull was born in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, in 1952 and grew up in Wilmette, Illinois. She graduated from the girls' preparatory Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette, studied music at Northwestern University, and then earned a B.A. in 1974 from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, magna cum laude, majoring in English, minoring in music. Career Krull worked as a children’s book editor for companies in the Midwest, including at Western Publishing from 1974 to 1979, where she edited and wrote books in the Trixie Belden series under the pseudonym of Kathryn Kenny. Gerald McDermott (January 31, 1941 – December 26, 2012) was an American filmmaker, creator of children's picture books, and expert on mythology. His creative works typically combine bright colors and styles with ancient imagery. His picture books feature folktales and cultures from all around the world. Biography McDermott was born in Detroit, Michigan, to parents who supported the arts and encouraged his love of reading. McDermott began studying art at the age of four, when he started taking Saturday workshops at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the museum in his hometown.
