Isaac van Goudoever (before 20 October 1720Van der Aa gives 20 October 1720 as the birth date, but Van Loon contradicts him explicitly, giving 29 August 1712 as the birth date, quoting a source who knew Van Goudoever personally; Cf. Van Loon, p. 342, note 2. But both are wrong. First of all, the parents were married in 1714 in Amersfoort, which makes it unlikely that the son was born in 1712. Furthermore, though van Goudoever appears several times in the baptism, marriage and burial (DTB) register of Amsterdam, there is no baptism record for him there. States Of Holland And West Friesland
The States of Holland and West Frisia ( nl, Staten van Holland en West-Friesland) were the representation of the two Estates (''standen'') to the court of the Count of Holland. After the United Provinces were formed — and there no longer was a count, but only his "lieutenant" (the stadtholder) — they continued to function as the government of the County of Holland. The nobility was normally represented by the Land's Advocate of Holland or Grand Pensionary of Holland, who combined the votes of the ten members of the ''Ridderschap'' (the "Knighthood") in the estates; the nobility was also supposed to represent all rural interest, including those of the farmers. Abraham Jacob van der Aa (7 December 1792, Amsterdam – 21 March 1857, Gorinchem) was a Dutch writer best known for his dictionaries, one of notable people and the other of notable places in the Netherlands. He was born in Amsterdam in 1792. His father was a lawyer. From the ages of 6 to 12, he visited the dayschool in Amstelveen. After that, he was sent to the boarding school of J.E. van Iterson in Aarlanderveen but only stayed there for a year. After a short stay at the Latin school in Leiden, where his parents lived at that time, he was sent to the Seminarium in Lingen, Germany to study the "dead languages". After his return in 1810, he went to medical school in Leiden, but had to leave after his father's death. He later did his mandatory military service until 1817. At that point he tried to open a bookshop in Leuven but this wasn't a success so he became a teacher in the Dutch language. The Prussian invasion of Holland was a Prussian military campaign in September–October 1787 to restore the Orange stadtholderate in the Dutch Republic against the rise of the democratic Patriot movement.
