Isaac Richards (soccer)
Isaac Richards (born 9 April 1999) is an Australian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Adelaide United. He left football to pursue a career in mixed martial arts Club career Adelaide United On 14 December 2017, Richards signed a 1-year scholarship contract with Adelaide United. For the 2018 season Richards was awarded the prestigious Peter Nikolich Trophy for the SA National Premier League (NPL) Goalkeeper of the Year. In November 2018, at the age of 19, Richards' contract with Adelaide United was upgraded to a senior contract until the end of the season. In May 2019 his senior contract was extended for a further two years to May 2021. On 2 October 2019, Richards made his professional senior debut being named in the starting lineup for Adelaide United in a FFA Cup semi-final fixture against the Central Coast Mariners. Adelaide United Football Club is a professional soccer club based in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. The club participates in the A-League Men under licence from Australian Professional Leagues (APL). The club was founded in 2003 to fill the place vacated by Adelaide City and West Adelaide in the former National Soccer League (NSL), and is now the sole team from the state of South Australia in the A-League. South Australian State League 1
The NPL State League 1 South Australia is the second tier state-level football (soccer) competition in South Australia, ranked third tier in the national pyramid. The league are part of the National Premier Leagues (NPL) structure implemented by Football Federation Australia in 2012. It is conducted by the Football Federation South Australia (FFSA), the state's governing body. After the reforming of the South Australian football league structure in 2012, the league increased its participants from 10 clubs to 16. The FFSA has announced a restructuring of the league format in South Australia for the 2016 to 2018 seasons, moving from a 2 tiered system to a 3 tiered system with the introduction of a new 3rd division, which will reduce the participants in the State League down to 12. A-League Men (known as the Isuzu UTE A-League for sponsorship reasons) is the highest-level professional men's soccer league in Australia and New Zealand. At the top of the Australian league system, it is the country's premier men's competition for the sport. The National Premier Leagues South Australia (often abbreviated to NPL South Australia or NPL SA) is a semi-professional football competition in the Australian state of South Australia. The league is a subdivision of the second tier National Premier Leagues, which sits below the A-League on the national pyramid. The competition is controlled by Football South Australia, the governing body for the sport in the state.
