Isaac J. MacCollum
Isaac James MacCollum (August 18, 1889 – March 4, 1968) was an American physician and politician from Wyoming, in Kent County, Delaware. He was a member of the Democratic Party who served as the List of Lieutenant Governors of Delaware, 11th Lieutenant Governor of Delaware. Early life and family MacCollum was born at Fenwick Island, Delaware. He graduated from West Chester Normal School, now known as West Chester University in 1910 and Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1914. Professional and political career MacCollum served on the medical advisory board during World War I and was president of the Delaware State Medical Society in 1930. He served as a member of the trustees at Delaware State Hospital for nine years, president of the State Board of Health for four years, and a member of the State Parole Board for 20 years, 16 of those years as president. Lieutenant Governor Of Delaware
The lieutenant governor of Delaware is the second ranking executive officer of the U.S. state of Delaware. Lieutenant governors are elected for a term of four years in the same general election as the U.S. president and take office the following January. As in many other U.S. state legislatures, the lieutenant governor also serves as the President of the Delaware Senate, though they can only issue a vote if there is a tie on any vote. The Office of Lieutenant Governor was created by the Delaware Constitution of 1897, and the first election took place in 1900. Although in practice the candidate for lieutenant governor is nominated as a ticket with the candidate for governor, the offices of governor and lieutenant governor are voted on separately in Delaware. The Delaware Historical Society began in 1864 as an effort to preserve documents from the Civil War. Since then, it has expanded into a statewide historical institution with several buildings, including Old Town Hall and the Delaware History Museum, in Wilmington and the historic Read House & Gardens in New Castle.
