Isaac Bentham
Isaac Bentham (27 October 1886 Lancashire – 15 May 1917) was a British water polo player who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics. He was part of the British team, which was able to win the gold medal. He was killed in action, aged 30, in the Battle of Arras during World War I. He died on 15 May 1917, whilst serving as a sergeant in the Royal Field Artillery on the Western Front in France. He has no known grave. He is commemorated on the Arras War Memorial. Isaac; grc, Ἰσαάκ, Isaák; ar, إسحٰق/إسحاق, Isḥāq; am, ይስሐቅ is one of the three patriarchs of the Israelites and an important figure in the Abrahamic religions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. He was the son of Abraham and Sarah, the father of Jacob and Esau, and the grandfather of the twelve tribes of Israel. Isaac's name means "he will laugh", reflecting the laughter, in disbelief, of Abraham and Sarah, when told by God that they would have a child., He is the only patriarch whose name was not changed, and the only one who did not move out of Canaan.
