Iryna Hurvych
Iryna Borysivna Hurvych (30 June 1911 - 30 March 1995) was a Soviet Ukrainian animator and screenwriter, Honored Art Worker of the USSR (1973). Life Iryna Hurvych was born on June 30, 1911, in the town of Letychiv, Podil Province (now Khmelnytsky Region). From 1934, after graduating from the Kyiv Art Institute, Hurvych worked at the Kyiv Studio of Feature Films. Later she became the artistic director of the Creative Association of Artistic Animation "Kyivnaukfilm". Hurvych was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) since 1947. As an animation director Iryna Hurvych brought up many talented masters of animation. Letychiv
Letychiv ( uk, Летичів; pl, Latyczów; russian: Летичев) is a town in the eastern part of Khmelnytskyi Oblast (province) of western Ukraine. 51 km from Khmelnytskyi and 33 km from the railway station in Derazhnia. It was administrative center since Tsarist times, formerly in Podolia Province, although now it is administratively a part of Khmelnytskyi Raion. It hosts the administration of Letychiv Settlement Hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population according to the 2001 census was 11,081 inhabitants. Kyiv Art Institute (KHI) uk, Київський художній інститут, russian: Киевский художественный институт (1924-1930) was the Ukrainian state art and technical high school which is the historical inheritor of Ukrainian Academy of Arts which was founded at December 5, 1917 in Kyiv by the Central Rada of Ukrainian People's Republic. During the Soviet era, the name of the institution changed several times. Kyiv Art Institute appeared as a result of reorganization and merger of Institute of Plastic Arts (1922-1924) and Ukrainian Institute of Architecture (1918-1924). The Dovzhenko Film Studios ( uk, Національна кіностудія художніх фільмів імені О. Довженка, translit. ''Natsional'na kinostudiya khudozhnikh filmiv imeni O. Dovzhenka'') is a former Soviet film production studio in Ukraine that was named after the Soviet film producer, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, in 1957. With the fall of the Soviet Union, the studio became a property of the government of Ukraine. In 2000 the film studio was awarded national status. History The studios began in 1920s when the All-Ukrainian Photo-Cinema-Directorate (VUFKU) announced a project proposition for the construction of a cinema factory in 1925. Kievnauchfilm (russian: Киевнаучфильм), also Kyivnaukfilm ( uk, Київнаукфільм, translit=Kyïvnaukfil′m), translated as Kyiv Science Film, was a film studio in the former Soviet Union located in Kyiv, Ukrainian SSR. Although it was created in 1941 to produce popular science films, it eventually became best known for its animated films, and remained active in Ukrainian animation for decades. Description Its main task was production of popular science films and documentaries covering a broad range of topics. Volodymyr Dakhno (; March 7, 1932, Zaporizhzhia — July 28, 2006, Kyiv, Ukraine) was a Ukrainian animator, animation film director and scriptwriter. He was a laureate of the Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine (1988), and a People's Artist of Ukraine (1996). Dakhno was best known for the animation series '' Cossacks'' (Козаки) which featured characters who were Zaporozhian Cossacks. He worked at Kievnauchfilm, also translated Kyivnaukfilm, which has since been renamed Ukranimafilm. Volodymyr Dakhno was born on March 7, 1932, in Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian SSR (now Ukraine). His father was a colonel and his mother was a librarian; he was described as a "bookish" child who enjoyed drawing. In an interview, he speculated that his upbringing in Zaporizhzhia contributed to his love of humor.
