Adelaide Eliza Scott Ironside (17 November 1831 – 15 April 1867) was an Australian artist. Three of her paintings were donated to Australian national collections, but in 1888 they were in "a shed". Janey Ironside
Janey Ironside (1919 – 6 April 1979)"Professor Janey Ironside", ''The Times'', 19 November 1979, p. IV. was professor of fashion at London's Royal College of Art, a position she held from 1956 to 1968. She was a key figure in enabling fashion to be accepted as a valid academic subject in Britain. Described by her daughter Virginia as a "style icon", she died aged 60 after several suicide attempts and having suffered medical complications caused by alcoholism. Sir Henry George Outram Bax-Ironside, (15 November 1859 – 16 April 1929) was a British diplomat, ambassador to Venezuela, Chile, Switzerland and Bulgaria. Career Henry George Outram Bax was the only son of John Henry Bax, of Houghton-le-Spring, who had married Sarah Elizabeth Hughes, and in 1866 took the surname Bax-Ironside by royal warrant, when his son became Henry Bax-Ironside. He was educated at Eton College and Exeter College, Oxford and joined the Diplomatic Service in 1883. He served in Copenhagen, Teheran, Vienna, Cairo, and Washington, and was briefly in charge of the Central American Legation in 1897 before being appointed Secretary of the Legation at Pekin in the same year. Virginia Ironside (born 3 February 1944) is a British journalist, agony aunt and author. Born in London, she is the daughter of Christopher Ironside, painter and coin designer, and Janey Ironside who was the first professor of fashion design at the Royal College of Art. She was the niece of the painter and designer Robin Ironside. Education Ironside attended Miss Ironside's School in Kensington, where her great-aunt was headmistress. Robert Ironside (businessman)
Robert Ironside, (b. 27 November 1854 – d. October 10, 1910) was a Canadian from Upper Canada whose parents had immigrated from Scotland. His pursuits, beyond businessman, involved cattle breeding and politics. In 1883, Robert came to Manitou, Manitoba in the employ of John Elliott and Sons, a farm equipment manufacturer. By 1885, he and a partner had opened a lumber and coal business. During the North-West rebellion they supplied beef to the army. Although the partnership ended quickly, he and his partner maintained business connections with both expanding to surrounding communities. Ironside built a large grain warehouse in La Rivière, Manitoba where he competed successfully in the grain business. He also raised, bought and exported beef from the area which coincided with the arrival of access to a railroad. Frederick Reginald Ironside (born February 12, 1950), known as Michael Ironside, is a Canadian actor, producer, director, and screenwriter. Joe Samuel Ironside (born 16 October 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for club Cambridge United. Ironside started his career at Sheffield United after progressing through their academy.
