An Ironman 70.3, also known as a Half Ironman, is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). The "70.3" refers to the total distance in miles (113.0 km) covered in the race, consisting of a swim, a bike ride, and a run. Each distance of the swim, bike, and run segments is half the distance of that segment in an Ironman Triathlon. The Ironman 70.3 series culminates each year with a World Championship competition, for which competitors qualify during the 70.3 series in the 12 months prior to the championship race. Terenzo Bozzone
Terenzo Bozzone (born 1 March 1985) is a professional triathlete from New Zealand who races primarily in long distance, non-drafting events. He is the winner of the 2008 Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Athletic career Bozzone was born in South Africa and moved to New Zealand with his family as a young boy. He was a talented athlete at school winning many national titles in a variety of disciplines including cross country running, cycling, swimming and multisport. Sebastian Kienle
Sebastian Kienle (born 6 July 1984) is a German long-distance triathlete. He is the winner of the 2014 Ironman World Championship, as well as the 2012 and 2013 Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Athletic career Kienle was exposed to the sport of triathlon for the first time at the age of 8 and then knew that he wanted to grow up to be a professional triathlete. Jeffrey Bruce Symonds (born October 1, 1985) is a Canadian professional triathlete. His third-place in the 2011 Ironman 70.3 World Championship made him the first Canadian male and the second man in his twenties (after Terenzo Bozzone) to record a podium finish at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. Symonds won the 2015 Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship in Melbourne, and the 2013 and 2014 Challenge Penticton triathlons, with second-place finishes at Ironman Canada in 2014 and 2018. Chris Lieto (born February 7, 1972 in Red Bank, New Jersey) is a professional triathlete and the winner of the 2006 Ironman Japan, 2005 Ironman Canada, and 2002 Ironman Wisconsin triathlons. Athletic career Lieto grew up in Danville, California and later began his athletic career playing collegiate water polo at Long Beach State University. In 1997, he saw the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon World Championship on television and decided to participate in his first triathlon ever, which he won. Timothy O'Donnell (triathlete)
Timothy O'Donnell (born October 1, 1980) is an American long-distance triathlete. He won the 2009 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships, placed third at the 2015 Ironman World Championship, and was second at the 2019 Ironman World Championship. Career O'Donnell was originally a swimmer who began competing in triathlon on the advice of his brother while at the United States Naval Academy. In 2013, O'Donnell won Ironman Brazil with a time 8:01:32. He was 5th at the 2013 Ironman World Championship and was the first American to cross the line. In 2014 O'Donnell announced that he had begun working with Mark Allen in preparation for the 2014 Ironman World Championship. (born 15 May 1976 in Ústí nad Labem) is a triathlete from the Czech Republic. Ospalý competed at the first Olympic triathlon at the 2000 Summer Olympics. He did not finish the competition. Daniel Monzoro Fontana (born December 31, 1975, in General Roca, Río Negro) is an Argentine-born Italian professional triathlete. Fontana started out as a swimmer in Argentina, until he began his triathlon career in 1994, while racing for his homeland. He first competed at two Pan-American Games (1999 and 2003), and at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, as part of the Argentina team, where he placed twenty-eighth in the men's triathlon, with a time of 1:57:14. In 2006, Fontana relocated to Italy, and became a naturalized citizen to take his athletic abilities to a higher level. At the peak of his career, Fontana has won seven titles in triathlon, four for Argentina and the other three for Italy.
