Ironfest (Lithgow)
Ironfest is an historical and cultural event in Portland, New South Wales, created by Macgregor Ross, a local artist and festival director. It is a not-for-profit event that celebrates the relationship between humanity and iron, steel and other metals. Hosted as a series of events combined under one large theme, celebrating the cultural heritage and diversity of the Lithgow region, it brings together artists, designers/makers, blacksmiths, performers of all kinds, musicians, historical re-enactors, machine enthusiasts and hobbyists from all over Australia, and the world. The last time Ironfest took place was in 2019. In March 2020 it was cancelled (just 4 weeks out) due to Covid, and there hasn't been a festival since. Portland is a town in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia. At the , Portland had a population of 2,424 people. The town was named after Australia's first cement works. Lithgow is a town in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia and is the administrative center of the City of Lithgow local government area. It is located in a mountain valley named Lithgow's Valley by John Oxley in honour of William Lithgow, the first Auditor-General of New South Wales. Lithgow is on the Great Western Highway, about west of Sydney, or via the old mountain route, Bells Line of Road, from Windsor. At June 2021 Lithgow had an estimated urban population of 21,556.
