''Olea'' ( ) is a genus of about 40 species in the family Oleaceae, native to warm temperate and tropical regions of the Middle East, southern Europe, Africa, southern Asia, and Australasia. They are evergreen trees and shrubs, with small, opposite, entire leaves. The fruit is a drupe. Leaves of ''Olea'' contain trichosclereids. For humans, the most important and familiar species is by far the olive (''Olea europaea''), native to the Mediterranean region, Africa, southwest Asia, and the Himalayas, which is the type species of the genus. Parrotia Persica
''Parrotia persica'', the Persian ironwood, is a deciduous tree in the family Hamamelidaceae, closely related to the witch-hazel genus '' Hamamelis''. It is native to Iran's Caspian region (where it is called ) and Iranian Azerbaijan (where it is called '). It is endemic in the Alborz mountains, where it is found mainly in Golestan National Park. The species was named by Carl Anton von Meyer to honor his predecessor at the University of Dorpat, German naturalist Georg Friedrich Parrot., who botanized in the Alborz on a mountaineering expedition in the 1830s. Another species ''Parrotia subaequalis'' (commonly called Chinese ironwood) originates from eastern China. ''Prosopis africana'' is a flowering plant species in the genus Fabaceae. It is found in Africa.
