Irish Downloads Chart
The Irish Downloads Chart is a chart compiled by the Irish Recorded Music Association to measure the downloads of individual tracks from a number of online stores. Its current contributors are downloadmusic.ie, iTunes, Eircom Music Club, Vodafone, Sony Connect, Bleep, Wippit, easyMusic and 3ireland. In addition to its own chart, the downloads used to compile the Downloads Chart, also are added to physical single sales (i.e. they are used to determine Singles Chart positions). The chart is currently compiled to the Top 20 However, beginning in 2007, the singles chart was changed to accommodate all downloads, meaning that a song released outside the traditional New Releases bracket will now be taken into account in the singles chart if it qualifies within the top 40. The first example of this was the single "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol re-entered the Top 40 in the first chart of 2007 at Number 8, despite the single being released in August 2006. Irish Recorded Music Association
The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) is a non-profit association set up in 1999 to promote certain interests of the music industry in Ireland. It is particularly active in addressing copyright issues, and it compiles the official music charts for Ireland. Membership Only Irish companies can become members of the IRMA. All members pay a yearly fee based on company size. Currently, the IRMA has 51 member companies. ITunes Store
The iTunes Store is a digital media store operated by Apple Inc. It opened on April 28, 2003, as a result of Steve Jobs' push to open a digital marketplace for music. As of April 2020, iTunes offered 60 million songs, 2.2 million apps, 25,000 TV shows, and 65,000 films. When it opened, it was the only legal digital catalog of music to offer songs from all five major record labels. The iTunes Store is available on most Apple devices, including the Mac (inside the Music app), the iPhone, the iPad, the iPod touch, and the Apple TV, as well as on Windows (inside iTunes). Video purchases from the iTunes Store are viewable on the Apple TV app on Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices and certain smart televisions. Snow Patrol
Snow Patrol are a Northern Irish–Scottish Rock music, rock band formed in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland. They consist of Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Nathan Connolly (guitar, backing vocals), Paul Wilson (musician), Paul Wilson (bass guitar, backing vocals), Jonny Quinn (drums), and Johnny McDaid (piano, guitar, backing vocals). Initially an indie rock band, Snow Patrol rose to prominence in the early– mid-2000s as part of the post-Britpop movement. The band were founded at the University of Dundee in 1994 by Lightbody, Mark McClelland, and Michael Morrison of Shrug (band), Shrug.
