Irineu Calixto Couto
Irineu Calixto Couto (born 27 March 1983 in São Paulo), or simply Irineu, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Betim as a centre-back. Biography Born in São Paulo, Irineu started his professional career at Cruzeiro. He also loaned to Ipatinga twice, from December 2004 to April 2005 (along with Diego da Silva) and in April 2006, which he played for the club at the national cup (2005 and 2006). Originally loaned to the club until the end of year, he left for Portuguese side Sporting Braga in August 2006. He also signed a new 3-year contract with Cruzeiro in July 2005. In January 2007 he returned to Brazil and loaned to Flamengo. In August 2007 he left for Marília. In January 2008 he was loaned to Portuguese Primeira Liga side Académica. The team avoided from relegation. In July 2008, he signed a 3-year contract with Denizlispor after his contract with Cruzeiro expired. 2005 Copa Do Brasil
The Copa do Brasil 2005 was the 17th staging of the Copa do Brasil. The competition started on February 2, 2005 and concluded on June 22, 2005 with the second leg of the final, held at the Estádio São Januário in Rio de Janeiro, in which Paulista lifted the trophy for the first time after a 0-0 draw with Fluminense. Fred, of Cruzeiro, with 15 goals, was the competition's topscorer. Format The competition was contested by 64 clubs in a knock-out format where all rounds were played over two legs and the away goals rule was used, but in the first two rounds if the away team won the first leg with an advantage of at least two goals, the second leg was not played and the club automatically qualified to the next round. Taça Guanabara
The Taça Guanabara, or Guanabara Cup, is a football tournament organized annually since 1965 by the Rio de Janeiro State Football Federation. In its first four editions (1965, 1966, 1967 and 1968), the Taça Guanabara was a tournament in its own right, unrelated to the Rio de Janeiro league, and the winner would represent Rio de Janeiro in the Taça Brasil de Futebol national league competition. From 1969 onward, the cup became the first round of the Rio de Janeiro state league. The Campeonato Carioca (Carioca Championship), officially known as Campeonato Estadual do Rio de Janeiro (Port., Rio de Janeiro State Championship), was started in 1906 and is the annual football championship in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Campeonato Mineiro
Campeonato Mineiro is the state football league of the state of Minas Gerais and is controlled by the Minas Gerais Football Federation FMF (Federação Mineira de Futebol). The history of Campeonato Mineiro can be divided into two parts: before and after the construction of the Mineirão, in September 1966. The Mineirão is the biggest football stadium of Minas Gerais and it is located in Minas Gerais' state capital, Belo Horizonte. Before the stadium's inauguration América and Atlético were the most successful teams in the state, but after the construction of the Mineirão, known as the "Era Mineirão" ("Mineirão Era"), another team from the capital, Cruzeiro, also gained prominence. The 2003 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A was the 47th edition of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. The first edition with only a double round-robin and no playoffs, it began on March 29, 2003, and reached its end on December 14. The competition was won by Cruzeiro Esporte Clube, who completed a treble. Format The 24 teams played against each other twice. At the season finale, the team with the most accumulated points (3 for each win, 1 for a draw, none for a loss) was declared champion.
