Irene Mecchi
Irene Mecchi (born September 21, 1949) is an American screenwriter and playwright, whose prominent works include screenplays for several Walt Disney Animation Studios, Disney animated films. She co-authored the screenplays for ''The Lion King'' (1994), ''The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996 film), The Hunchback of Notre Dame'' (1996), and ''Hercules (1997 film), Hercules'' (1997). With co-author Roger Allers, she received a 1998 Tony Award, Tony nomination for writing the book for ''The Lion King (musical), The Lion King'' stage musical. Biography Mecchi was born in the third generation of her family that lived in San Francisco, California. She attended the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in theater. ''The Hogan Family'' (originally titled ''Valerie'' and later ''Valerie's Family'') is an American sitcom television series that began airing on NBC on March 1, 1986, and finished its run on CBS on July 20, 1991, for a total of six seasons. It was produced in association with Lorimar Productions (1986), Lorimar-Telepictures (1986–1988), and Lorimar Television (1988–1991). Under the title "''Valerie''" the show originally centered around Valerie Harper in the titular role as a mother trying to juggle her career and raising three sons with an absent airline pilot husband. After the first two seasons, Harper was replaced, following contractual disputes over salary and disputes about the direction her character was going. Her character was killed off at the start of season three and Sandy Duncan joined the cast as Valerie's sister-in-law and the boys' aunt. Brenda Chapman
Brenda Chapman (born November 1, 1962) is an American animator, screenwriter, storyboard artist, and director. In 1998, she became the first woman to direct an animated feature from a major studio, DreamWorks Animation's ''The Prince of Egypt''. In 2012, she co-directed the Disney/Pixar film '' Brave'' with Mark Andrews and Steve Purcell, becoming the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Jonathan Roberts (born May 10, 1956) is an American screenwriter, television producer and author. He is known for having co-written Disney's ''The Lion King''. Life and career Born in Boston, Roberts studied English literature at Brown University and took a summer graduate program on book and magazine publishing at Harvard before launching his career. His first written work was on ''The 80s: A Look Back'' and ''The Official Preppy Handbook'', which became a ''New York Times'' bestseller. ''Bambi'' is a 1942 American animated drama film directed by David Hand (supervising a team of sequence directors), produced by Walt Disney and based on the 1923 book ''Bambi, a Life in the Woods'' by Austrian author and hunter Felix Salten.
