The Ireland national handball team is controlled by the Irish Olympic Handball Association (IOHA) and represents Ireland in international handball matches. History Liverpool Airport 4-Nations Championship 1984 In 1984 the team played a 4-Nations Championship in Liverpool. They lost the first game against England 1 to 12, the game against Scotland was lost by 5 to 20 and the final game against Wales they lost 14 to 16. They finished last place in the tournament. EHF Challenge Trophy 2009 The Irish Men's team finished in 3rd place of the group G2 in the EHF Challenge Cup trophy in Malta. 3rd place is the best result an Irish team have achieved in the 10 years of the competition. The schedule for the tournament resulted in Ireland playing the hosts Malta in the first match at the University Sports Hall. The Irish Olympic Handball Association (IOHA) is a governing body of team or Olympic handball on the island of Ireland. It is a member of the European Handball Federation (EHF). 2019 IHF Emerging Nations Championship
The 2019 IHF Emerging Nations Handball Championship was the third edition of the IHF Emerging Nations Championship held in Georgia under the aegis of International Handball Federation from 7 to 16 June 2019. Georgia defeated Cuba in the final to win their first title and earned the right to compete at the Relegation Round of 2022 European Championship qualification. The 2017 IHF Emerging Nations Handball Championship was the second edition of the IHF Emerging Nations Championship held in Bulgaria under the aegis of International Handball Federation. The tournament was held in two cities, Gabrovo and Veliko Tarnovo, from 12 to 18 June 2017. A total of sixteen countries participated in the tournament out of which 15 are European except China. Faroe Islands defended their title by defeating Turkey 26–25 in the final. Qualification system Seeding The draw for the qualification round was held on the 27 March 2012 at the EHF headquarters, in Vienna, Austria. In sports, a foul is an inappropriate or unfair act by a player as deemed by a referee, usually violating the rules of the sport or game. A foul may be intentional or accidental, and often results in a penalty.
