The Olympic Federation of Ireland or OFI ( ga, Cónaidhm Oilimpeach na hÉireann) (called the Irish Olympic Council until 1952 and the Olympic Council of Ireland until 2018) is the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of the island of Ireland. Gary Ryan (athlete)
Gary Ryan (born 12 June 1972 in Kilcommon, Tipperary) is a former Irish sprinter who specialised in the 200 metres. On retirement he worked for the Irish athletics association as Director of Coaching before leaving in January 2009 for a position with the National University of Ireland, Galway. Ryan won the bronze medal in 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2004 World Indoor Championships, together with teammates Robert Daly, David Gillick and David McCarthy. His personal best time is 20.67 seconds, achieved in August 1997 in Catania. James "Jamie" Costin ( ga, Séamus Ó Coistín; born 1 June 1977) is an Irish race walker from the Gaeltacht area of Old Parish, County Waterford. He has qualified to represent Ireland in the 50km Walk at three Olympic Games. Having finished 38th at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, he was unable to compete at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens following a serious road accident where he broke his back. Robert Heffernan
Robert Heffernan (born 28 February 1978) is an Irish race walker. Career At the 2000 Olympics he finished in 28th place, and at the 2004 Olympics he was disqualified, both in the 20 km race walking discipline. At the 2008 Olympic Games he improved, coming eighth in the 20km Walk. His wife Marian Andrews is also national women's 400 metres champion and was on the Irish women's team that finished 4th in the European indoors. On 27 July 2010, Heffernan won the bronze medal in the 2010 European Athletics Championships in the 20 kilometres walk, posting a time of 1:21:00 (achieved retrospectively in 2014 after Russian Stanislav Emelyanov was found to have committed an anti-doping violation). He also finished 4th in the 50km walk in a national record time of 3:45:30.This was an amazing achievement due to the fact it was just 3 days after the 20 km event. Paddy McGrath
Paddy McGrath (born 2 February 1989) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Ard an Rátha and also, formerly, for the Donegal county team. Though not from a footballing family, McGrath would equal his club's most famous player Anthony Molloy in winning the Sam Maguire Cup (though Molloy was captain) and surpass his haul of Ulster Senior Football Championships. Terry McHugh (born 22 August 1963) is a retired Irish track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw. His personal best of 82.75 m, set in 2000, is the Irish record. Nick Sweeney (born 26 March 1968 in Dublin) is a retired Irish discus thrower, who represented his native country in four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting 1992 (Barcelona, Spain). Brendan Anthony John Reilly (born 23 December 1972 in Shipley, West Yorkshire) is a retired two-time Olympic high jumper.
