Ireland National Rugby Sevens Team
The Ireland national rugby sevens team competes in several international rugby sevens competitions. The team is governed by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU). Ireland competes as a "core team" on the World Rugby Sevens Series, a competition every year from December to June that includes ten tournaments staged around the globe. The 2019–20 season is Ireland's first season as a core team. At the 2019 Hong Kong Sevens Ireland won the World Series Qualifier tournament for the 2019–20 World Rugby Sevens Series, earning "core team" status for the first time. Ireland has previously competed in individual tournaments within World Rugby Sevens Series, although not as a core team. Ireland's best World Series tournament was the 2018 London Sevens, where they finished in third place, the first invitational side to reach the semi-finals of a World Rugby Sevens Series event. Billy Dardis
Billy Dardis (born 31 January 1995) is an Irish rugby union player. He is the captain of the Ireland national rugby sevens team, and also plays for University College Dublin R.F.C., UCD in Division 1A of the All-Ireland League (rugby union), All Ireland League. Youth In his youth, Dardis played rugby with Naas RFC. In secondary school, Dardis initially played for Newbridge College in Kildare, where he also played Gaelic football. Dardis switched to Terenure College, where he focused on rugby, and he played with Terenure in the Leinster Schools Senior Cup. Dardis also featured for Leinster at both u-18 and u-19 youth levels. Club Dardis entered the Leinster academy in 2013. Dardis also played for UCD. After three years in the Leinster academy, he was awarded his first fully professional contract ahead of the 2016–17 season. Jack Kelly (rugby Union, Born 1997)
Jack Kelly (born 26 October 1997) is an Irish rugby union player, who is currently a member of the Leinster academy and plays for the Ireland national rugby sevens team. Early life Kelly lived in France for two years during his childhood, also playing rugby, and speaks fluent French. Kelly attended secondary school at St. Michael's College in Dublin. Despite playing in several strong school teams with fellow future professional rugby players such as Dan Leavy, James Ryan and others, he did not win a Leinster Schools Rugby Senior Cup medal. Leinster Kelly joined the Leinster academy immediately upon leaving school in 2016. He made his senior Leinster debut in 2018 against Ospreys. He combines his rugby career with studying law in Trinity College, Dublin. Harry McNulty
Harry McNulty (born 5 March 1993) is an Irish rugby union player who currently plays for the LA Giltinis of Major League Rugby (MLR). He also plays as a forward for the Ireland national rugby sevens team. Early life McNulty was born in Bahrain to Irish parents. His father worked in financial services and is a former Bahrain Rugby Club player. His mother was a flight attendant working for the then King of Bahrain, Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa. He has a younger brother, Sean McNulty, who is also a rugby player. The family lived in London for three years, then moved to the United States, where they lived for 10 years. In the United States, McNulty discovered he loved ice hockey and played hockey in New York. He played with the Rye Rangers. At age 14, McNulty's family moved back to Bahrain and from 2006 to 2011 he attended Rockwell College, a boarding school in Tipperary, for secondary school. 2022–23 World Rugby Sevens Series
The 2022–23 World Rugby Sevens Series the 24th annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for men's national teams. The Sevens Series has been run by World Rugby since 1999. This series also, for the third time, doubled as a qualifier for the Olympic Games, with the top four countries, excluding hosts France, qualifying automatically for the 2024 Olympic Sevens. The 2017 Moscow Sevens was the opening tournament of the 2017 Rugby Europe Grand Prix Series, hosted by Oktyabr Stadium at Moscow. It was held over the weekend of 3–4 June 2017. 2016 Men's Rugby Sevens Final Olympic Qualification Tournament
The Final 2016 Men's Olympic Qualification Tournament for rugby sevens at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held on 18 and 19 June 2016 at Stade Louis II in Fontvieille, Monaco The tournament used a round-robin format. The qualification tournament was won by Spain, as a result, they qualified for the Olympics 2016. 2015 Rugby Europe Sevens Olympic Repechage Tournament
The 2015 Rugby Europe Sevens Olympic Repechage Tournament was held on 18–19 July in Lisbon to determine the three teams that joined Spain at the final Olympic qualifying tournament, made up of the eight non-qualified Grand Prix teams, the top three teams of Division A and the champion of Division B. IRB Sevens World Series
The World Rugby Men's Sevens Series is an annual series of international rugby sevens tournaments run by World Rugby featuring national sevens teams. Organised for the first time in the 1999–2000 season as the IRB World Sevens Series, the competition was formed to promote an elite-level of international rugby sevens and develop the game into a viable commercial product. The competition has been sponsored by banking group HSBC since 2014. The season's circuit consists of 10 tournaments that generally begin in November or December and last until May. The venues are held across 10 countries, and visits five of the six populated continents. Shamrock Warriors RFC
Shamrock Warriors RFC was a Rugby sevens club founded in 2009 by former Leinster out-half Fergal Campion. They were the only 7's club in Ireland endorsed by the Irish Rugby Football Union and were established to represent Ireland as the only official Irish 7's team competing at the top level tournaments in Europe. Aims The clubs aim was to develop a pool of experienced 7's players for the IRFU to be in position to select to develop into a future international 7's squad to compete in tournaments by giving them experience playing in the top level competition should the IRFU become involved in professional international sevens or in the Olympic Sevens. The England national rugby sevens team competes in the World Rugby Sevens Series, Rugby World Cup Sevens and the Commonwealth Games. England's best finish in the Sevens Series is second place, which they have achieved four times, most recently in the 2016-17 season.
