Iraqi Premier Division League
The Iraqi Premier Division League ( ar, دوري الدرجة الممتازة العراقي) is the second-highest division of the Iraqi football league system after the Iraq Stars League. The league is contested by 22 clubs and is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA). It will be governed by the Iraqi Pro League Association from the 2024–25 season. Each season, the two top-finishing teams in the Premier Division League are automatically promoted to the Stars League. The four lowest-finishing teams are relegated to Iraqi First Division League, First Division League. The number of clubs in the league have changed throughout history, most recently in the 2023–24 Iraqi Premier Division League, 2023–24 season, when the number of clubs decreased from 24 to 22 and the competition's name was changed from First Division League to Premier Division League. In association football, the referee is the person responsible for interpreting and enforcing the Laws of the Game during a match. The referee is the final decision-making authority on all facts connected with play, and is the match official with the authority to start and stop play and impose disciplinary action against players and coaches during a match. At most levels of play the referee is assisted by two assistant referees (formerly known as linesmen), who advise the referee on whether the ball leaves the playing area and any infringements of the Laws of the Game occurring outside of the view of the referee. Al-Adhamiya Sport Club ( ar, نادي الأعظمية الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Al-Adhamiyah, Baghdad, whose football team plays in Iraq Division Two. History Early years Al-Adhamiya was founded in 1951 and competed in the Iraq Central FA League from 1957–58 until 1959–60 when they were relegated. Al-Jumhouriya Al-Olympi In 1967, Al-Adhamiya merged with Al-Jumhouriya Al-Olympi to form Markaz Al-Shabab Al-Adhamiya. Al-Jumhouriya Al-Olympi were a club founded in 1934 as Al-Olympi Al-Malaki, later renaming to Al-Malaki in 1943, Al-Jumhouriya in 1958 and Al-Jumhouriya Al-Olympi in 1959. Al-Bahri SC
Al-Bahri Sport Club ( ar, نادي البحري الرياضي, lit=''Navy Club'') is an Iraqi football team based in Al-Jubaila, Basra, arrived twice to the semi-final in Iraq FA Cup. In 1990, the Iraqi Defense Ministry dissolved the club within its decision to dissolve all Iraqi military clubs, the club was playing in the Iraqi Premier League, then it was reconstituted. History Al-Bahri were founded in 1976, and in only their second season in existence, they reached the semifinals of the 1977–78 Iraq FA Cup, beating the reigning champions at the time ( Al-Zawra'a) on the way, however they withdrew from the semifinal and handed their opponents Al-Tayaran a 3–0 victory. Al-Shabab SC (Iraq)
Al-Shabab Sports Club (''Youth SC'', ar, نادي الشباب الرياضي) is an Iraqi football club that is based in Baghdad. It currently plays in the Iraq Division Two. Its home colours are a shirt with blue and black Inter Milan style stripes with black shorts and blue socks and its away colors are a white shirt with blue shoulders and blue on the sides with blue shorts and white socks. In 1980, they won the Stafford Challenge Cup hosted in Bangalore, India, by beating Indian Telephone Industries 4–2 in the final. Al-Ittihad Sport Club ( ar, نادي الاتحاد الرياضي), is an Iraqi football team based in Al-Ashar, Basra, that plays in Iraq Division Three. History Foundation and early years Al-Ittihad was founded in 1937 in the Al-Bachhari district in the name of the Royal Al-Ittihad Sport Club, and it was the first administrative body headed by Nadhum Majeed.
