The Iraq national under-23 football team (also known as Iraq Olympic football team) represents Iraq in international under-23 football, Olympic Games and at the Asian Games, The team is controlled by the governing body for football in Iraq, Iraq Football Association (IFA). Iraq reached fourth place in the Football at the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and were champions in the 2013 AFC U-22 Championship. Other achievements include silver medal in the Football at the 2006 Asian Games, 2006 Asian Games in Doha, and the bronze medal in the Football at the 2014 Asian Games, 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. The Iraq Football Association (IFA) ( ar, الاتحاد العراقي لكرة القدم) is the governing body of football in Iraq, controlling the Iraqi national team and the Iraqi Premier League. The Iraqi Football Association was founded in 1948 and has been a member of FIFA since 1950, the Asian Football Confederation since 1970, and the Sub-confederation regional body West Asian Football Federation since 2001. Iraq is also part of the Union of Arab Football Associations and has been a member since 1974.
