Iraq Central FA Premier League
The Iraq Central FA Premier League, also known as the Iraq Central FA First Division and previously named the Iraq FA Baghdad First Division ( ar, دوري الاتحاد العراقي لمنطقة بغداد), was the top-level division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities between 1948 and 1973. It was controlled by the Iraq Football Association, Iraq Central Football Association and was played under a variety of different formats including a Double-elimination tournament, double-elimination format, a Round-robin tournament, round-robin format and a double round-robin format. It was one of several regional league championships played in Iraq at the time, with others including the Iraq FA Basra Premier League, Basra, Iraq FA Kirkuk Premier League, Kirkuk and Mosul leagues. Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya
Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya ( ar, فريق الكلية العسكرية, lit=''Military College''), known up until 1958 as Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya Al-Malakiya, was an Iraqi football team founded in 1937 in Baghdad. They were the runners-up of Iraq's first ever national cup when they lost the final of the 1948–49 Iraq FA Cup to Sharikat Naft Al-Basra. They were also the first ever winners of the Iraq Central FA League, a regional league for teams from Baghdad and its neighbouring cities, when they earned the title in 1948–49. Their final season in the top-flight was 1969–70 when they were relegated to the region's second-tier. Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya were consigned to competing in non-IFA competitions after 1974 following the introduction of a clubs-only league system in Iraq, and competed in Army competitions until 1991 when the team was disbanded along with several other Army teams due to the Gulf War. The 1958–59 Iraq Central FA First Division Cup was the 11th season of the Iraq Central FA League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973). It was played as a double-elimination tournament. Amanat Baghdad, Amanat Al-Asima won their first title by beating Al-Athori SC, Al-Athori 1–0 in the final which was ended at half-time due to the withdrawal of Al-Athori's players. The 1957–58 Iraq Central FA First Division Cup was the 10th season of the Iraq Central FA League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973). It was played as a double-elimination tournament and started on 26 November 1957. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya Al-Malikiya (now known as Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya) won their first title, after Montakhab Al-Shorta withdrew from the replay of the final due to missing several players from their squad through injury with the Iraq Central Football Association refusing to move the game to another date. The 1954–55 Iraq FA Baghdad First Division was the seventh season of the Iraq Central FA League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973). Al-Haris Al-Maliki won their sixth consecutive league title, beating the Civil Cantonment (C.C.) select team from Habbaniya in the final on 24 April 1955 at Al-Kashafa Stadium. Matches Final The C.C. team walked off the pitch late in the second half in protest at the referee's decision to award Al-Haris Al-Maliki a second penalty kick won by Ammo Baba. Al-Haris Al-Maliki were therefore awarded the trophy. 1953–54 Iraq FA Baghdad First Division
The 1953–54 Iraq FA Baghdad First Division was the sixth season of the Iraq Central FA League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973). Al-Haris Al-Maliki won their fifth consecutive league title. One of the tournament's matches came in January 1954, when the Civil Cantonment (C.C.) select team from Habbaniya defeated Al-Sikak Al-Hadeed 2–1 at Al-Kashafa Stadium with goals from Ammo Baba and Youra Eshaya. The C.C. team then went on to face Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya Al-Malikiya the following month at the same stadium. Ammo Baba gave C.C. the lead after four minutes before Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya Al-Malikiya scored the next three goals through Rahoomi Jassim (ninth minute), Rashid Jedaya and Taha (20th minute). Jamil Jowahar brought a goal back for C.C. before Ammo Baba scored again in the 75th minute and then made it a hat-trick moments later to win the match 4–3 for C.C.
