The Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (I.R.I.V.F.) is the governing body for Volleyball in Iran. It was founded in 1945, and has been a member of FIVB. Mahsa Kadkhoda ( fa, مهسا کدخدا; born 22 June 1993 in Birjand) is an Iranian volleyball player who plays for the Iran women's national volleyball team. She has played for Bank Sarmayeh and Peykan Tehran and is also a runner-up in the Iranian Premier League. The COVID-19 pandemic began in Asia in Wuhan, Hubei, China, and has spread widely through the continent. As of , at least one case of COVID-19 had been reported in every country in Asia except Turkmenistan. The Asian countries with the highest numbers of confirmed coronavirus cases are India, South Korea, Turkey, Vietnam, and Iran. Despite being the first area of the world hit by the outbreak, the early wide-scale response of some Asian states, particularly Bhutan, Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam has allowed them to fare comparatively well. China was criticised for initially minimising the severity of the outbreak, but its wide-scale response has largely contained the disease since March 2020. The 2021 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship would have been the 21st edition of the Asian Women's Volleyball Championship, organized by Asia's governing volleyball body, the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) hosted in the Philippines. Originally scheduled for August 29 to September 5, 2021, the tournament was postponed to 2022 due rising COVID-19 cases amidst a pandemic before it was eventually canceled. Host selection During the AVC Sports Events Council Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, the Asian Volleyball Confederation announced on February 11, 2020, that only one national federation have applied to organize 2021 Asian Women's Championship: However, China later withdrew as host. The 2017 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship was the nineteenth edition of the Asian Women's Volleyball Championship, Asian Championship, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc.
