I-RAM
The i-RAM is a solid-state storage device produced by Gigabyte and released in June 2005. It has four DDR RAM DIMM slots, and a connection via a SATA port enables a PC to see the i-RAM as a hard disk drive, which can also be made bootable. The SATA interface limits available bandwidth to a maximum sustained throughput of 150MB/s but allows latency of 0.1ms. As the DRAM is a volatile memory, an integrated battery allows the contents of the DRAM to be preserved for a limited amount of time after the device's power supply is interrupted. Features The I-Ram has the advantages of a fast transfer rate and access time, no moving parts, a lower cost than traditional solid-state drives, unlimited write cycles compared to flash memory and it doesn't slow down over time. However, it has the disadvantages of the high cost compared to traditional hard drives like low capacity (4 GiB maximum), the transfer rate restricted by SATA 150 bus (1.5 Gbit/s). It is not physically compatible with al ...

Berkeley IRAM Project
The Berkeley IRAM project was a 1996–2004 research project in the Computer Science Division of the University of California, Berkeley which explored computer architecture enabled by the wide bandwidth between memory and processor made possible when both are designed on the same integrated circuit (chip). Since it was envisioned that such a chip would consist primarily of random-access memory (RAM), with a smaller part needed for the central processing unit (CPU), the research team used the term "Intelligent RAM" (or IRAM) to describe a chip with this architecture.Patterson, et al. (1997) ''IEEE Micro,'' 17 (2), p. 34. Like the J–Machine project at MIT, the primary objective of the research was to avoid the Von Neumann bottleneck which occurs when the connection between memory and CPU is a relatively narrow memory bus between separate integrated circuits. Theory With strong competitive pressures, the technology employed for each component of a computer system—principal ...

Internal RAM
Internal RAM, or IRAM or on-chip RAM (OCRAM), is the address range of RAM that is internal to the CPU. Some object files contain an .iram section. Internal RAM (Random-Access Memory) History of Random-Access Memory (RAM) Earlier forms of what we have today as DRAM started as drum memory which was an early form of memory for computers. The drum would have to be pre-loaded with data and small heads in the drum would read and write the pre-loaded information. After drum memory came Magnetic-core memory which would store information using the polarity of ferrite donuts' magnetic fields. Through these early trial and errors of computing memory, the final result was Dynamic Random Access Memory which we use today in our devices. Dynamic Random Access Memory or (RAM) was first invented in 1968 by Robert Dennard. He was born in Texas and is an engineer who created one of the first models of (RAM) which was first called Dynamic Random Access Memory. His invention led to computers being ...

Institut De Radioastronomie Millimétrique
Institut de Radioastronomie Millimetrique (IRAM) is an international research institute and Europe's leading center for radio astronomy at millimeter wavelengths. Its mission is to explore the universe, study its origins and its evolution with two of the most advanced radio facilities in the world: * The NOEMA observatory (NOrthern Extended Millimeter Array), an array of currently eleven 15-meter antennas located in the French Alps on the Plateau de Bure at more than 2550 meters above sea level. NOEMA is the most powerful millimeter observatory of the Northern Hemisphere. * The IRAM 30-meter telescope, located at 2850 meters altitude on Pico Veleta in the Spanish Sierra Nevada (Andalucia, Spain). The telescope is the world's premier single-dish facility for astronomical research in the millimeter wavelength range. Both sites are at high altitude to reduce the absorption by water vapour in Earth's atmosphere. The telescopes are supported by the IRAM offices and laboratories in ...

Erum (name)
Erum (Arabic: إرَم ''ʾIram'', Persian: إرَم ''ʾEram'') is a Muslim name meaning "Paradise" or "Heaven" in English. It is variously romanised as Irum, Iram, Errum, and Eyrom In Persian folklore the name is also used in the story of King Shaddad, who wanted to compete with God and said that he would create ''Bāgh-e Eram'' ("Heaven on Earth"). To create this garden he used up all his wealth and power, even stealing from the poor. He made it so beautiful that it was said to have fountains of wine and milk, and rocks made of the most precious gems that one could ever imagine. His cruelty is said to have upset God and God decided to punish him, so that he would never lay eyes on Erum. Just when Shaddad was about to enter the gates of Erum he tripped on the steps and died on the spot. Notable persons with this name * Erum Akhtar (Pakistani actress) *Erum Ali (Indian fashion designer) *Iram Haq (Pakistani-Norwegian actress) * Iram Hassan Bajwa (Pakistani politician) Other uses ...

Iram Of The Pillars
Iram of the Pillars ( ar, إرَم ذَات ٱلْعِمَاد, ; an alternative translation is ''Iram of the tentpoles''), also called "Irum", "Irem", "Erum", "Ubar", or the "City of the pillars", is considered a lost city, region or tribe mentioned in the Quran. Iram in the Quran The Quran mentions Iram in connection with ''‘imad'' (pillars): Surah al-Fajr (6-14) There are several explanations for the reference to "Iram – who had lofty pillars". Some see this as a geographic location, either a city or an area, others as the name of a tribe. Those identifying it as a city have made various suggestions as to where or what city it was, ranging from Alexandria or Damascus to a city which actually moved or a city called Ubar. As an area, it has been identified with the biblical region known as Aram. It has also been identified as a tribe, possibly the tribe of ʿĀd, with the pillars referring to tent pillars. The Nabataeans were one of the many nomadic Bedouin tribes who r ...
