Ira Richardson
Ira Richardson (1871 – October 6, 1958) was a president of Northwest Missouri State University and founding president of Adams State College. Early life Richardson was a native of northern Missouri and received a degree from Central Methodist University in 1897. He received two master's degrees from Columbia University. Adams State University
Adams State University is a public university in Alamosa, Colorado. The university's Adams State Grizzlies athletic teams compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. History Adams State was founded in 1921 as a teacher's college. Billy Adams, a Colorado legislator who would later become a three-term governor of Colorado, worked for three decades before obtaining the authorization to found Adams State Normal School in 1921, to provide higher education opportunities for teachers from remote and rural areas of Colorado, such as the San Luis Valley, and see them work in those same areas. In 1926, Harriet Dalzell Hester became the university's first graduate. She became the school's first librarian and an Alamosa County school superintendent. The school adopted the name Adams State College in 1946, corresponding with the expansion of its undergraduate and graduate programs. Henry Kirby Taylor
Henry Kirby Taylor (August 10, 1858 – January 21, 1934) was president of Kentucky Wesleyan College, Northwest Missouri State University and the University of Texas at Arlington. Early life Taylor was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky. Kentucky Wesleyan Taylor earned a master's degree from Kentucky Wesleyan and was the school's president from 1906 to 1909. Northwest Missouri Taylor was president of Northwest from 1909 to 1913. After Taylor arrived at Northwest, his predecessor Homer Martien Cook continued living in the President's house for four months, so the school had two de facto presidents during this period. Taylor addressed numerous fiscal problems at the young university including paying back salaries to faculty (even though he went without himself). He also settled the squabbles that had halted construction on the Administration Building which opened in December 1910 during his watch. Northwest Missouri State University is a public university in Maryville, Missouri. It has an enrollment of about 8,505 students. Founded in 1905 as a teachers college, its campus is based on the design for Forest Park at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair and is the official Missouri State Arboretum. Central Methodist University (formerly known as Central Methodist College and also known as Central College or CMU) is a private university in Fayette, Missouri. CMU is accredited to offer masters, bachelors, and associate degrees. The school is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. History On April 13–14, 1853, Central Methodist University was founded by Nathan Scarritt and David Rice McAnally. The college was chartered by the Missouri General Assembly on March 15, 1855.
