Ip Man (TV Series)
''Ip Man'' is a 2013 Chinese television series romanticizing the life of Ip Man (Mandarin: Ye Wen), a Chinese martial artist specialising in Wing Chun. Background Directed by Fan Xiaotian, the series starred Kevin Cheng, who briefly appeared as a younger Ip Man in '' Ip Man: The Final Fight'' (2013) which starred Anthony Wong as a middle-aged Ip Man. Han Xue, Liu Xiaofeng, Chrissie Chau, Song Yang, Yu Rongguang, Yuen Wah and Bruce Leung were cast in supporting roles. Wilson Yip, the director of the ''Ip Man'' film series (starring Donnie Yen), and Taiwanese television series producer Young Pei-pei served as the artistic consultants. The real-life Ip Man's sons, Ip Chun and Ip Ching, were invited to be the martial arts consultants for the series. The series was shot from July to November 2012 in Kunshan, Suzhou, and was first aired on Shandong TV from 24 February to 9 March 2013. Kevin Cheng Ka-wing (born 15 August 1969) is a Hong Kong American actor and singer who is currently under the management of the Hong Kong television network Television Broadcasts Limited, TVB. Ip Ching
Ip Ching (born Ip Hok-ching; 7 July 1936 – 25 January 2020) was a Hong Kong martial artist. He was one of five Grandmasters of the Ip Man (Yip Man) family of Wing Chun Kung Fu. Biography He was born Ip Hok-ching in Foshan in 1936 as the second son of Ip Man and his wife Cheung Wing-sing. This was short-lived as his parents and his sister Ip Nga-sum had to leave and travel to Hong Kong in about 1950 in search of a better life for the family, and only his mother and sister returned home later on. In 1962, due to the Cultural Revolution, Ip Ching and his older brother Ip Chun were forced to leave Foshan and moved to Hong Kong to join their father. His father Ip Man taught from his home. ''The Grandmaster'' ( zh, s=一代宗师) is a 2013 martial arts drama film based on the life story of the Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man. The film was directed and written by Wong Kar-wai. It was released on 8 January 2013 in China. It was the opening film at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival in February 2013. The film was selected as part of the 2013 Hong Kong International Film Festival. The Weinstein Company acquired the international distribution rights for the film. Leung Bik (born Leung Bik-wo with the courtesy name Tai-wah; 1845 – 1911), also known as Mr. Bik (), was a Wing Chun martial artist. He was one of Ip Man's teachers. History He was born in Foshan in 1845 as the second of the nine sons of Leung Jan by his second wife with the surname of Cheng (). Chan Wah-shun ( 1849 – 1913), nicknamed Money Changer Wah (找錢華) and Money Clutcher Wah (爪錢華), was a student of the Wing Chun grandmaster Leung Jan (梁贊). He is noted for being the martial arts teacher of Ip Man. Zhang Yongcheng
Cheung Wing-sing (; 1897 – 1960) was the wife of Wing Chun master Ip Man. Biography Little is known about Cheung's birth and childhood life except that she was a relative of the Qing Dynasty official Zhang Yinhuan () (1837–1900), who was involved in the Hundred Days' Reform movement in 1898, and that she was born to educated parents in Foshan.
