Ion Oblemenco
Ion Oblemenco (13 May 1945 – 1 September 1996) was a Romanian football striker who spent the majority of his career playing for Universitatea Craiova. He is the club's all-time top goalscorer with a total of 167 goals, and the club's stadium is named in his honour. Early years Oblemenco was born in Corabia, Olt County. He began his youth career in 1958 at the age of 13 at Progresul Corabia, where he played till 1960, and then moved to Electroputere Craiova for two years. Club career Rapid București Oblemenco, aged 19, was bought from CS Universitatea Craiova by Valentin Stănescu to Rapid București. He made his senior debut on 5 July 1964 and scored in a 3–1 defeat against his former club Universitatea Craiova. Oblemenco's first team opportunities were limited as he was kept out of the side by forwards Emil Dumitriu and Ion Ionescu. He left Rapid in the summer of 1966, and returned to Universitatea Craiova. Corabia
Corabia () is a small Danube port located in Olt County, Oltenia, Romania, which used to be part of the now-dissolved Romanați County before World War II. Across the Danube from Corabia lies the Bulgarian village of Gigen. History Beneath Corabia, around the former village of Celei, lie the remains of Sucidava, an old Dacian and Roman town and fortress. Near the town, Emperor Constantine the Great built the longest European bridge over the Danube (). The bridge was destroyed during the Avar invasions, probably in the 7th century. Ion Gheorghe Ionescu (born 5 April 1938) is a Romanian former Association football, football Forward (association football), striker. Club career Ion Gheorghe Ionescu, nicknamed "Puiu" was born on 5 April 1938 in Bucharest, Romania, growing up in the Cotroceni neighborhood. He made his Liga I, Divizia A debut, playing for FC Rapid București, Rapid București under coach Ion Mihăilescu on 30 October 1960 in a 2–0 loss against CS Minerul Lupeni, Minerul Lupeni. FC Steaua București was a Romanian professional football club of which two current entities are claiming the records. The original ''FC Steaua București'' team was part of the namesake CSA Steaua București sports club and belonged to the Ministry of National Defence. In 1998, the club and facilities were separated from the sports club and taken over by a group of shareholders in a post-Ceaușescu privatisation scheme, allegedly leading to one of the shareholders (Gigi Becali) acquiring full ownership five years later. However, CSA Steaua București sued the football club in 2011, claiming that this was a new entity; the two have since been in a legal conflict regarding the ownership of the Steaua brand and honours, which resulted in multiple court cases and the forced change of the name of ''FC Steaua București'' to FCSB in early 2017. Dudu Georgescu (born 1 September 1950) is a retired Romanian footballer who played as a forward and a former coach. Club career Dudu Georgescu was born in Bucharest on 1 September 1950. He started his career at Progresul București, making his Divizia A debut in a 3–0 victory against Universitatea Craiova in which he played as a central defender. The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table.
