Ion Jinga
Ion Jinga (born 1 September 1961, Câmpulung) is a Romanian diplomat working in the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1992. Between 9 April 2003 and 7 March 2008 he served as the Romanian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and between 7 March 2008 and 4 August 2015 he held the position of Ambassador of Romania to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. On 4 August 2015, he started his term as Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Romania to the United Nations in New York. He and his wife Daniela have one daughter, Daria. Studies Ion Jinga graduated from the Dinicu Golescu High School in Câmpulung, Argeş (1976 - 1980), as a valedictorian, and subsequently he attended the Faculty of Physics at the University of Bucharest, which he graduated in 1986. The Permanent Representative of Romania to the United Nations ( ro, Reprezentant Permanent al României la Organizația Națiunilor Unite) is currently Ion Jinga since 4 August 2015. Romania joined the United Nations (UN) on 14 December 1955. The first person with the diplomatic post was Athanase Joja, who was already appointed with it in 1955. 2013 Meat Adulteration Scandal
The 2013 horse meat scandal was a food industry scandal in parts of Europe in which foods advertised as containing spicy beef were found to contain undeclared or improperly declared horse meat – as much as 100% of the meat content in some cases. A smaller number of products also contained other undeclared meats, such as pork. The issue came to light on 15 January 2013, when it was reported that horse DNA had been discovered in frozen beefburgers sold in several Irish and British supermarkets. The analysis stated that samples of beef burgers also contained pig DNA. Several religious groups globally are forbidden to eat to pork due to their religious beliefs. While the presence of undeclared meat was not a health issue, the scandal revealed a major breakdown in the traceability of the food supply chain, and the risk that harmful ingredients could have been included as well.
