Inverkeithing High School
Inverkeithing High School is a secondary school located in Inverkeithing, a historic former port town on the Fife coast. The existing building dates from the early 1970s and is to be replaced by a secondary school in nearby Rosyth. It was designed by architect Gavin Haveron McConnell who was influenced by Le Corbusier and introduced some elements into the structure such as the pilotis which give open circulation under part of the building, and the accessible roof space. In 2004, the building received Listed status (Category B) from Historic Environment Scotland for its inventive Late Modern design. The building is due to be replaced by 2026. In November 2020, the education and children's services committee voted 14-4 in favour of building it at the Fleet Grounds, Rosyth. The school teaches pupils from Inverkeithing, Hillend, Dalgety Bay, Rosyth, North Queensferry, Aberdour and High Valleyfield, but also from Dunfermline under exceptional circumstances. Inverkeithing ( ; gd, Inbhir Chèitinn) is a port city, port town and parish, in Fife, Scotland, on the Firth of Forth. A town of ancient origin, Inverkeithing was given royal burgh status during the reign of Malcolm IV of Scotland, Malcolm IV in the 12th century. It was an important center of trade during the Middle Ages, and its industrial heritage built on quarrying and ship breaking goes back to the 19th century. Lindsay Roy
Lindsay Allan Roy, CBE, FRSA (born 19 January 1949) is a British Labour Party politician, who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Glenrothes from 2008 until 2015. He is the former Rector of Inverkeithing High School and Kirkcaldy High School. He announced he would be standing down as an MP in 2015 after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Teaching career Roy was educated at the University of Edinburgh where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in 1970. Gordon Durie
Gordon Scott Durie (born on 6 December, 1965 in Paisley) is the Scottish former professional footballer, a utility player who usually played as a striker. He played for East Fife, Hibernian, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Rangers and Hearts. He was also capped 43 times by Scotland. After retiring as a player in 2001, in 2010, he became a coach and manager, working for East Fife and Rangers as an assistant. Michael Scott (footballer)
Michael Scott (born 3 June 1993) is a Scottish professional footballer, who played as a midfielder for Livingston in the Scottish First Division and now plays for Christos FC in the United States Adult Soccer Association. Stephen Hendry
Stephen Gordon Hendry (born 13 January 1969) is a Scottish professional snooker player who dominated the sport during the 1990s, becoming one of the most successful players in its history.
