Interscope Records
Interscope Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group through its Interscope Geffen A&M imprint. Founded in late 1990 by Jimmy Iovine and Ted Field as a $20 million joint venture with Atlantic Records of Warner Music Group and Interscope Communications, it differed from most record companies by letting A&R staff control decisions and allowing artists and producers full creative control. Its first hit records arrived in under a year, and it achieved profitability in 1993. Chair and CEO until May 2014, Iovine was succeeded by John Janick. In 1992, Interscope acquired the exclusive rights to market and distribute releases from the hardcore hip hop label Death Row, whose artists included Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, a decision that ultimately put the label at the center of the mid-1990s gangsta rap controversy. As a result, Time Warner, owning Atlantic, severed ties with Interscope by selling its 50 percent stake back to Field and Iovine for $115  ...

Nine Inch Nails
Nine Inch Nails, commonly abbreviated as NIN and stylized as NIИ, is an American industrial rock band formed in Cleveland in 1988. Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Trent Reznor was the only permanent member of the band until his frequent collaborator, Atticus Ross, joined in 2016. The band's debut album, ''Pretty Hate Machine'' (1989), was released via TVT Records. After disagreeing with TVT about how to promote the album, the band signed with Interscope Records and released the EP ''Broken'' (1992). The following albums, ''The Downward Spiral'' (1994) and ''The Fragile'' (1999), were released to critical acclaim and commercial success. Following a hiatus, Nine Inch Nails resumed touring in 2005 and released the album ''With Teeth'' (2005). Following the release of the album ''Year Zero'' (2007), the band left Interscope after a feud. Nine Inch Nails continued touring and independently released ''Ghosts I–IV'' (2008) and ''The Slip'' (2008) before a ...

Bush (British Band)
Bush are an English rock band formed in London, England in 1992. Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Gavin Rossdale, lead guitarist Chris Traynor, bassist Corey Britz, and drummer Nik Hughes. In 1994, Bush found immediate success outside the UK with the release of their debut album, ''Sixteen Stone'', which is certified six times multi-platinum by the RIAA. They went on to become one of the most commercially successful rock bands of the 1990s, selling over ten million records in the United States and 20 million records worldwide. Despite their success in the US (especially in the mid-1990s), the band were considerably less popular in their home country and they have enjoyed only marginal success there. Blackstreet (album)
''Blackstreet'' is the debut studio album from American R&B group Blackstreet, released in 1994 on Interscope Records. The group was formed by Riley with Chauncey Hannibal after the dissolution of Teddy Riley's former group Guy. The other members of Blackstreet - Joseph Stonestreet and Levi Little - were session singers alongside Hannibal on Bobby Brown's third album ''Bobby'', an album that was mostly produced by Riley. They recorded one song for the soundtrack of the Chris Rock film ''CB4'' called "Baby Be Mine". Before they could record an album, Stonestreet left the group and was replaced by former Force One Network singer Dave Hollister. When they re-recorded "Baby Be Mine" for their self-titled debut, Hollister's vocals were added on the album version of the song. Hip hop producer Erick Sermon co-produced the first single "Booti Call", which was a response to the rape trial and conviction of professional boxer Mike Tyson at the time of the album's release. Blackstreet
Blackstreet (often stylized as BLACKstreet) is an American R&B group founded in 1991 by record producers Chauncey "Black" Hannibal, and Teddy "Street" Riley. The group has released four albums with Interscope Records until 2003. They achieved relative success leading up to the single "No Diggity" (featuring Dr. Dre and Queen Pen), which peaked at number 1 for four weeks in November 1996. Formation After the breakup of Guy, Riley (while working on Bobby Brown's 3rd album, ''Bobby'') came up with the idea to start a new group featuring himself. Originally, the group was to be named Stonestreet, but it was later decided to combine Stonestreet with Chauncey's nickname "Black". The group became Blackstreet Featuring Teddy Riley, with an original lineup of Riley, Chauncey Hannibal, Levi Little, and Joseph Stonestreet. However, Stonestreet was replaced with Dave Hollister before the first self-titled album was released. Career In 1993, their first single "Baby Be Mine" was released ...

Doggystyle
''Doggystyle'' is the debut studio album by American rapper Snoop Dogg (then known as Snoop Doggy Dogg). It was released on November 23, 1993, by Death Row Records and Interscope Records. The album was recorded and produced following Snoop's appearances on Dr. Dre's debut solo album ''The Chronic'' (1992), to which Snoop contributed significantly. The West Coast style in hip-hop that he developed from Dre's first album continued on ''Doggystyle''. Critics have praised Snoop Dogg for the lyrical "realism" that he delivers on the album and for his distinctive vocal flow. Despite some mixed criticism of the album initially upon its release, ''Doggystyle'' earned recognition from many music critics as one of the most significant albums of the 1990s, as well as one of the most important hip-hop albums ever released. Much like ''The Chronic'', the distinctive sounds of ''Doggystyle'' helped introduce the hip-hop subgenre of G-funk to a mainstream audience, bringing forward West Coast h ...

Vagina Diner
''Vagina Diner'' is the debut studio album by the American rapper Akinyele, released on Interscope Records in 1993. The album's single was "Ak Ha Ha! Ak Hoo Hoo?" The album did not receive much promotional backing from Interscope, but did manage to become a hit on college radio. Critical reception In a retrospective review, ''Spin'' wrote that Akinyele is "a gritty, X-rated joker with a uniquely bipolar flow—his set-ups are nimble wordplay, his punchlines are delivered in a low Oscar the Grouch croak." Akinyele Adams (), better known by the mononym Akinyele, is an American rapper known for his sexually explicit lyrics, including his 1996 underground radio hit " Put It in Your Mouth". He appeared on " Live at the Barbeque" off of Main Source's 1991 album ''Breaking Atoms''. His first album, ''Vagina Diner'', was released in 1993. In 2001, he released '' Anakonda''. He is also listed as the composer for Swizz Beatz's 2007 singles "Money in the Bank" and "One Man Band Man". Since 2010, Akinyele has retired from the rap circuit, and instead opened up the club, V-Live, in 2016 in Miami Beach. Since opening, it has garnered controversy for teetering on being a strip club, which is prohibited in Miami Beach, and for having overly loud music which disturbed the residents living in the area. Due to these and other mounting issues, V-Live was forced to close down in 2019. He is of Nigerian and Costa Rican descent. Discography Studio albums * ''Vagina Diner ''Vagina Diner'' is the ...

Strictly 4 My N
In mathematical writing, the term strict refers to the property of excluding equality and equivalence and often occurs in the context of inequality and monotonic functions. It is often attached to a technical term to indicate that the exclusive meaning of the term is to be understood. The opposite is non-strict, which is often understood to be the case but can be put explicitly for clarity. In some contexts, the word "proper" can also be used as a mathematical synonym for "strict". Use This term is commonly used in the context of inequalities — the phrase "strictly less than" means "less than and not equal to" (likewise "strictly greater than" means "greater than and not equal to"). More generally, a strict partial order, strict total order, and strict weak order exclude equality and equivalence. When comparing numbers to zero, the phrases "strictly positive" and "strictly negative" mean "positive and not equal to zero" and "negative and not equal to zero", respectively. ...

Miscellaneous Debris
''Miscellaneous Debris'' is an EP of five cover songs by Primus, released on March 12, 1992. The EP is the first release by the band to feature Les Claypool playing his now-famous fretless six-string Carl Thompson bass, nicknamed the "Rainbow Bass". Reception Critical reception In his review for AllMusic, Stephen Thomas Erlewine describes the EP as "Primus' best release". He notes that the band "plays actual songs instead of sketching out a few ideas as an excuse for jamming", which means that "''Miscellaneous Debris'' isn't as weird and alienating as previous albums", concluding that the band's covers "show flashes of brilliance, largely due to the loose yet focused musicianship." Chart performance ''Miscellaneous Debris'' peaked at number 69 on the Australian ARIA Charts, ARIA singles chart in May 1994. Although the EP never charted on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200, its sole single "Making Plans for Nigel" peaked at number 30 on the Alternative Songs, Modern Rock Tr ...
