Internode Pty Ltd is an Australian Internet service provider (ISP) that provides NBN broadband services, business-class broadband access, web hosting, co-location, Voice over IP, and a variety of related services. Internode became part of TPG Telecom in July 2020. History The company was founded in 1991 by Robyn Taylor and Managing Director Simon Hackett, Internode is based in Adelaide, South Australia. Internode was the first ISP to offer ADSL2/2+ services in Australia, by installing their own DSLAMs in Telstra exchanges. This allowed them to offer access speeds of up to 24Mbit/s, significantly higher than the fastest speed then offered by Telstra at the time (1.5Mbit/s). Terria (consortium)
Terria Access Seekers Association, formerly known as G9, was a consortium of Australian Internet service providers that in 2006 formed a consortium to bid for the right to build the proposed National Broadband Network. The companies involved were Internode Systems, iiNet, Macquarie Telecom, Optus and Primus. Absent from the list was Telstra. Terria came about in response to a proposal from Telstra to build a Fibre to the node (FTTN) communications network around Australia. The consortium (which at the time comprised eight companies — iiNet was yet to join) responded that the new network would lock out all competitors and would only provide speeds that were achievable with the existing infrastructure. They proposed an alternate open network that with Telstra's participation would have covered a larger percentage of the population and allowed open competition for the same cost. Meningie, South Australia
Meningie is a town on the south-east side of Lake Albert in South Australia. It is on the Princes Highway near The Coorong and was surveyed in 1866. At the , the locality of Meningie had a population of 1118 with a median age of 51 while its town centre had a population of 852. History The word ''Meningie'' is derived from "the Aboriginal word 'meningeng' meaning 'place of mud'". The town was surveyed between March and June 1866 by W. Farquhar without any proclamation. Land was offered for sale on 23 August 1866. The name also was used for an "adjoining private subdivision of sections 104, 106/9 and 111" in the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Bonney. A school was opened in 1869. A jetty was erected in 1867, with paddle steamers operating between Meningie and other ports on Lake Albert and Lake Alexandrina until 1927/1928. Agile Communications is a licensed national telecommunications carrier based in South Australia and was the first South Australian based company to gain this license. The company is the wholesale subsidiary of ISP Internode. The company was founded by Internode Managing Director Simon Hackett and Catherine Conway and is based in Adelaide. Internode and Agile were bought out by iiNet in 2012 and iiNet itself was acquired by TPG Telecom in 2015. The Yorke Peninsula is a peninsula located northwest and west of Adelaide in South Australia, between Spencer Gulf on the west and Gulf St Vincent on the east. The Coorong
Coorong National Park is a protected area located in South Australia about south-east of Adelaide, that predominantly covers a coastal lagoon ecosystem officially known as The Coorong and the Younghusband Peninsula on the Coorong's southern side. The western end of the Coorong lagoon is at the Murray Mouth near Hindmarsh Island and the Sir Richard Peninsula, and it extends about south-eastwards. Road access is from Meningie. The beach on the coastal side of the peninsula, the longest in Australia, is also commonly called The Coorong.
